Wanted to get your opinion before I place an order for a new 2016 Mini Hardtop 2 door.

I prefer the looks of the 17" wheels and tires over the 18's. I know that is totally subjective. I like a little more tire showing. The 18" tires are going to be a lower profile and will give a harsher ride. Agreed??? Any owners of the 18" wheels/tires wish they would have opted for the 17's instead?

Thanks everyone. :)

My Boxster has 18" wheels. IMHO totally OTT for a Mini.
People have been brainwashed into thinking bigger is better
At the turn of this century, 15" wheels would have been deemed adequate.
If you read the wheel threads on here, many people think 16" is the sweet spot for ride/handling and think that's more important than ultimate edgy looks.

Oh, you'll get lots of opinions! :D I can't totally agree with the others on this. The F56 is not as "mini" as the two previous generation MINI's and the larger wheels look much better imo. That being said, you aren't ordering a JCW so your wheel choices are much better. I think the 17's are fine depending on the style and color you choose....happy medium between too small and needing larger wheels to match the larger wheel openings on the F56.

That's just my opinion...I love the 18" Cup Spoke Wheels on the JCW (and the ride quality is just fine)...If I could have bought a nice multi-spoke "classic MINI-style wheel" I would have gone for that, but those really nice styles available for a MINI or MCS just won't fit the JCW.

Good Luck,

John

I agree with o2. I just looked at all the wheels size immaterial on the configurator and chose the ones I like best! Bigger usually is harsher less mpg but better cornering but not always! Choose what you love and hence suits the car and colour. For me black 17" cosmos but would never have run flats ever again!
