I’m having a problem with connecting BimmerCode. It throws up an error because I have also installed a CarPlay box. Did you need to completely uninstall your CarPlay box to use BimmerCode, or did you just disconnect from power? (I’m assuming that you already had the box prior to upgrading your screen.)

Received my 8.8 inch screen this morning, got it installed and coded using bimmercode!! Took 10 minutes to install and code !! Even works well with my road top CarPlay box !!
My car has the latest software update and I have the latest version of bimmercode so maybe this is why bimmercode worked for me :) hope this helps anyone else thinking to swap their display View attachment 74985 View attachment 74986

I had my CarPlay box prior to the installation. It shouldn’t affect bimmercode, well it didn’t for me anyway. I just plugged the new screen in and connect bimmercode and coded the car. I didn’t disconnect the CarPlay box or disconnect power. However, once the new screen was coded, the CarPlay box didn’t work, I had to flick one of the extra switches on the box and it still didn’t work, but then I just disconnected the main power lead (black box with lots of wires) and instantly reconnected it and it worked again.
hope that helps :)

Thanks. That is good to hear. However, I reached out to BimmerCode and they suggested that I unplug the CarPlay box before trying to code again. Strange that sometimes it plays nice with the CarPlay box, and sometimes it doesn’t.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but might be how you hooked it up.

if you ran the CANbus wires down to the controller I "think" it works, if you used the loop back connection (no wires to the controller) then I think it doesn't.
I need to test this on a friends car.

I just purchased mine off eBay, if you have the LCI touchscreen version you will need a touchscreen 8.8 screen, a non touch won’t work if you have an LCI with existing touchscreen. Not sure if they do other brand screen for minis, if they did I wouldn’t trust them if I’m honest

hi, I saw your replies and that you can programme carplay into the infotainment. I have a f56 cooper s 2015 VIN: WMWXP7C52F2A35811
i feel like i probably have the entrynav unit, but im not sure. i would love to have carplay if it would be possible.
please let me know if it's possible for my car or if i have to get one of those boxes. or maybe if there would be any other options if im not eligible.

thanks in advance:)

Hi, I am impressed with your knowledge! I have a Mini Cooper 2014/8 with a regular radio without a screen, now I want to change it to 6.5 "and a reversing camera and I have parts with numbers:

screen: 8803370

unit: 9441851

idrive:769402

reversing camera:9472923

Will these components work together?

I have changed the wiring.

Will I have to code with the change of zeitkriterium via esys?

I don't have much knowledge, so any help will be worth its weight in gold and I thank you in advance for it,

Christopher

help, I'm trying to do the 6.5 to 8.8 screen upgrade, I have changed the following below
  • DISPLAY_SIZE_RESOLUTION = 8.8_1280x480
  • DISPLAY_VARIANTE = breites_display
ESYS, no output what so ever
Bimmercode two thirds of the screen

Dec 17 car has entrynav HU with 6.5 screen

8.8 screen sourced from my May 17 car, neither screens are touchscreens

Any ideas please

I have a visual boost unit, fitted the 8.8 inch screen. I know there is a port for GPS attached to the main unit, is there anyway I can code in the maps or have it coded in if I get a GPS dongle or is it not possible ?
I have attached the photo of the GPS adapter

I have circled the location to the GPS Antenna location, the other blue next green connector I believe goes to the arm rest electrics
Sorry can’t help any more than that
