I came across this MEGA link the other day. It contains the latest european maps for the following systems;

Way (LCI Cars)
Evo (Pre LCI Cars)
Move
Route

How do we update with these maps on a pre-LCI F56 then? Lots of files and no idea where to start!
Find out which version of the maps you have on your car. (Look in options when you are in the Nav screen).
Download the file to match your map version (EVO, WAY, MOVE etc)
Extract the contents of the file onto a USB Drive.
Plug into the car.
Select Map Update.

The download doesn't work for me. Tried in Chrome and just sticks at 0% downloaded.

Also not 100% match on my current version which is 'Road Map EUROPE Next 2014-1'

The closest match I can find is 'Road Map EUROPE Next West 2020-1' - I assume that will work!

That said, got to hope the download works first I suppose! (Ah, it is now at 1% downloaded... long job!)

OK it is downloading just very slowly, will hopefully update tomorrow. Will I need an activation code? Some sites selling the software suggest it is VIN dependent to activate? Thanks for the help so far!

Yes, they are big files, so downloading can take a while. Not sure whether you will need a code, try without first. Some people say you can update for 3 years from new, others claim they work for older cars too. Try it, and report back :)

The RAR file is an archive that needs to be extracted. Basically the same as a zip file in terms of functionality but a different format. Applications like WinRAR or 7zip are able to extract the contents.

Guys can someone remind me how to 'unpack' the rar files to put on USB. I've purchased the maps from OEM and downloaded 5 x rar folders(Parts 1 to 5) from their cloud. I've extracted Part 1 using WinRar which took ages into a new folder on my PC. I've then gone to extract the others which appear to contain the some of the same named files from the Part 1 so I've ignored them and these folders have unzipped in seconds.

Is this correct? I've got no instructions what to do this time

You should only need to extract "part 1" as the archive sees the rest as sequential parts of the same archive.(It should complain if the other parts are absent) It's a split archive to get around single file size limitations on some older disk file systems. (Individual files on a FAT32 drive can't be over 4 GB in size and the older FAT16 can't be over 2GB) This is not really a thing anymore so I've got no idea why they're still doing it.

The map for my 67 plate F60 updated perfectly.
However the map for my 16 plate F56 is recognised but requires a security code before update..
Is this because the F60 is under 3 years old and the F56 is nearing 4 years old?
Where can I find the security code?
