Just got my new Mini S TwoDoor with JCW package interior and exterior, Love the car, but I am annoyed at the automatic air upon startup.
I have tried hard to figure out how to stop this from happening, but every time I turn on the car, the air comes on automatically. I turn it off every time. I even tried changing the settings for my profile but there is no way to do this. Drives me crazy! I know the car is supposed to remember your setting from last time, but it doesn't seem to do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

If you mean you don't want the air con press the button that is down along the bottom set by the heated seat and recirculation buttons and the light goes off,ta da it remembers it. No air con?

Thank you for your prompt responses. I'll try to clarify. Every time I start the car the air comes on, AC or not, the fan itself comes on. It's on the lowest setting.
Even though I turn it off every time it still comes on when I start the car. I've dug through all the manuals and settings and there is no mentioning of it. I thought the whole point of the profile was to remember your settings. :-/

Well, the way I look at it - I have it set to 'Auto' and the air conditioning is off. Seems to me that it is ventilation, a good thing.

So you are saying its the ventilation fan that comes on,not the air con?

I totally agree with you here biker Bob. May be I have low expectations but this mini is by far the best car I've ever had.. We've just bought a dacia duster 4x4 base model no radio not much of anything the but it's brilliant for a load carrying cheap, £11495 run about. And we love that.Just to protect our lovely minis! I find it very hard to criticise my mini. It's like my baby!

I guess it's not a huge deal. Haha. Don't get me wrong. I love the car. My previous was a 135i M Sports Package. But it was a 2008 and I was spending a lot of money on maintenance. So I went with a new Mini. I'm going back to the dealership soon for some add ons I ordered. I'll ask them about the auto fan then. Thanks everyone. :)

I'm certain there's some kind of system which detects how hot the car is. When you start, if it's hot, the aircon comes on automatically. The light does not show. But you do get cold air coming out. Maybe it's not the temperature? Maybe it's the humidity? Not sure.

In the UK, it only happened a few times during the summer, but you're right - once it's on, it's difficult to get it turned off! It's like stealth aircon.

For you folks in parts of the world where it is hot much more often... I think you'll see this "feature" more frequently.

You have to code your car using E-SYS if you want to disable that feature.

I hated it initially so I disabled it. Then I found that without fans running, the windshield starts fogging up rather quickly in a 45F temperature that I have to turn it on all the time. I coded it back to stock now, so automatic climate control turns on all the time at level 1 setting.

To disable the fans when you start your car, you need to code:
IHKA3 -> 3003 -> MEMORY_OFF -> change it to AKTIV

The other thing related is that with Automatic Climate Control, the AC may turn on by itself depending on the outside temperature. I want total control over the AC, and there is a setting for that too. Of course, I disabled that function too.

To disable automatic AC with AutoClimatecontrol
IHKA3 -> 3003 -> AC_ON_WITH_AUTO -> change it to NICHT_AKTIV

By the way, there's a 15 minute memory which remembers your last setting. After the 15 minutes, the car goes into deep sleep, and it'll go back to default behavior according to the way the coding is done.

To code your car, you need a dongle called odb to enet adapter, and E-SYS software and data files that runs in Windows.
