This may or may not help but on my last Mini, a Countryman SD, I had start/stop failure. When I took it to a dealer they said it was due to some vacuum pipe or switch on the engine. I realise that my car was the previous generation of engine and you may have a petrol car but it may be something similar. The only other thing that may be worth looking at is the oil level. On my first Mini, a R55 Clubman one, the car started using oil and when the oil level dropped very slightly below have way on the dip stick the vanos system in the car made the car stall. I didn't have start/stop on that car but it could theoretically be something similar.

Hope this helps

I always turn it off when I start the car as 4 MINI's ago it failed on me in the rush hour at one of the busiest traffic lights in the area, believe me vehicles behind were not happy ;)

It would be interesting to know the reason though :)

Before ordering my Mini (hoping for Friday delivery) my wife and I spent an hour driving a Cooper S demo car. Drove mainly in sport mode and wondered why the "stop/start" feature wasn't working. Then tried eco mode and it worked fine. Which brings up some questions:

Does "stop/start" work in normal mode?

Isn't regular use of this feature awfully hard on engine, battery and starter motor???

1) Yes it does.

2) Yes it is...for all of them. But, they are designed to live with. And despite this, I leave disabled the stop/start.

I'm fuming. They said they were "giving me the benefit of the doubt". The cheek. I've only covered 1000 miles and I know there's only one scratch on the car and the rest is pristine! I'm not impressed.

Though to be fair the mini I bought few months ago had the engine replacement issue, and the car was replaced..so used to car issues now!

Thank you! They haven't worked out what's wrong with it. They did however dent the bonnet instead! Refused to fix it this week and they want to keep the car for four days next week to sort! Clowns
No excuse for that! That is exactly why my JCW will never see the dealer unless absolutely necessary! The fewer hands touch it the less likely to have an irresponsible act like that to occur! Absolutely shameful act, especially for a MINI dealer!
