Have had mini F56 for 10 months now, and have recently noticed that the automated lighting system is not as responsive as before. Previously, even during the day time, whenever I drove through any dark spots the low beams switch on then switch back off when back into a bright spot. Now, it seems to only switch on now when it is completely dark. Anyone else having issues with theirs?

Havent seen this on mine, i would agree dirty sensor is most likely

TBH, I wish mine was less responsive and the headlights only came on when actually needed!

A dirty sensor would make the lights come on sooner, wouldn't it?

So maybe your screen is too clean?

I have a similar problem. I park in my garage, so the lights always come on when I start up. Some days even though it's bright outside, the lights don't shut off until I turn the car off and start up again. Not really a huge issue, but it annoys me.

That's why I don't use the automagic setting. Annoyed the crap out of me the first time I tried it.

I love it but I don't like the way it stops idiots from having to think about their driving . Eg it doesn't work in fog,will the zombie driver remember. Doubt it.. the more a car does the worse people drive. Help. Bring on the goog l e car. Either that or replace the air bag with a sharp spike!

Or a bulldog. The driver is there to feed the dog, and the dog is there to bite the driver if the idiot touches anything.

I still prefer the auto lights but I get annoyed sometimes. At least they come on when they shouldn't and not the other way around.

Yes better to be safe than sorry and you can always use the switch.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Caved in and took it to the dealer, according to them they couldn't find anything wrong with it and I should expect a 20 sec delay. Sounds like rubbish to me and it's more like they don't know what's wrong with it and don't know how to fix it. It's just annoying to me, so I don't use the automated lighting anymore.

The auto main beam has stopped working on mine. I selected it on the same stretch of road every night from work and one night it had stopped working. It is being checked out when it goes in for a service in a few weeks time.
