Just had a phone call from the dealer saying my MC is awaiting despatch.:D
Not bad to say the estimated delivery was the 1st week in July.
Just waiting for them to let me know when it arrives now, but they expect it within the week. Happy days

Salesperson said she could not understand it, some were coming through really quick while others were taking ages. Does not seem to be any order. I just hope everyone gets theirs soon.

I think each dealership has a monthly quota. When they reach their quota, any further orders are moved to the quota for the following month.

I ordered my Mini from Mini Park Lane, so they have a slightly higher quota than most, due to the fact they're A) In Central London & B) Because they're in Park Lane.

I can only hope my July date is accurate
My dealer was told the delivery lorry left on Friday 8am, to reach the dealer in the evening of Friday.(Yesterday)

Didn't arrive.

She phoned despatch and they had no idea where it was.

Today nothing has arrived and she can't find out from anyone where the lorry is!

I don't think it has been hijacked or anything, but surely there must be a tracker system where a delivery vehicle can be checked for progress.
What on Earth is he/she up to?

Of course despatch could be telling porkies and nothing has left the factory at all...
most odd and frustrating for us and the dealer who is doing her best, as far as I can tell.

That's not good news. If the delivery company is Stobarts, then yes they have trackers. I am not sure if the pick up from the factory & deliver to a holding compound. I know BMW have a storage facility nr Doncaster so it may be just in transit. I am sure it will turn up.
And C) Mini Park Lane are the only Mini dealership owned by Mini themselves (I think).

Any news this morning?? :-/
Dealer rang this morning to say the lorry got as far as Carlisle on Friday but the traffic was so bad he didn't go any further, I don't know if that meant he went home again or just sat in a lorry park over the weekend, but at any rate I have now an appointment to meet my new little pal (not so little really) at 3pm this afternoon.

We are going on a teddy hunt until then as the Boss requires any car we have must have a small bear as a mascot, or really to guard it when we are away from it.

So, hopefully this episode of the saga will be coming to an end today and the next move will be to transfer my number plate over, which the dealer is organising.

It is raining here today so not good for pictures, but we'll see.

The moral of the story is that they DO come earlier than expected sometimes!

Congratulations you seem to be one of the lucky ones !! Regarding Reg transfer - don't hold your breath and be prepared for another wait. Organised my reg transfer when I picked my car up about 6wks ago and I'm still waiting for the new tax disc (the final stage of the transfer) - but hopefully not too far away now

So glad it has arrived. Just hoping I get a phone call soon :)
Did it arrive? Did it, did it?!!!
The last time I did a reg. transfer it took about 2 weeks, but the dealer said things have changed and it could take up to 6, so thanks for the heads up..I will be prepared for the wait!

I picked the car (MCP, B-red and Black) up successfully this afternoon and although I am technically savvy, I still haven't a clue how to work most of the systems using the joystick thing, in spite of a young lady, who knew her stuff, doing her best to educate me. The manual is not that clear either really. I know how to use the joystick, but the resulting menus and possible options are bewildering!

The car looks stunning as is the finish, apart from a tiny piece of plastic/rubber under the chrome strip under the left rear window being damaged, but it is hard to spot.
Not really practical to change it, I would have thought, but I have reported it.

Another strange anomaly is that they had fitted a non-chrome hatch handle to the rear tailgate when I had specified "chrome line exterior", so that is going to be dealt with once a correct one is sent up from the factory. Silly mistake to make.

For the delay in the promised delivery over the weekend , we were given a bottle of Champange and 2 full size "Mini" umbrellas, aparently one is the norm but I am not sure about that. Nice surprise.

We were almost treated like royalty, well maybe not, but it felt good to be fussed over and made to feel important.

Well done Mini. Worth the wait.

Now to start driving...

Now to start driving...
and to take photos so we can all drool - rain or shine!!!
Congrats on your new purchase. Photos too please :)
Brilliant news and congratulations!

I'm sure you just need some time alone in the car to get the hang of the menus...

Did you check the other parts of chrome line exterior? I think it's front main radiator grill and front lower grill surround and rear fog light surround. All should be chrome.

Annoying to have a small defect that can't easily be fixed... it's not a waterproof seal is it? I suppose something this complex is never going to be perfect. Rather that than a problem in the engine or electrics.

A friend advised me that when I collect my car I should take someone with me who's not involved and can be objective and spot any problems... like him he suggests :)
I will try to take pics tomorrow, rain permitting.

I have checked the front grille and it is chrome, but I forgot to check the lower intake...will do tomorrow, too.

That bit of trim is tiny and only cosmetic so will not be a problem, just a temporary annoyance. Have almost forgotten about it already!

Went for a lttle 50 mile trot today to try to get used to everything, and it really is a beautifully put together car. No rattles or creaks, just smooth progress with a bit of tyre noise and the three cylinder thrum when accelerating, which I like (my last three cars were three cylinder jobs too).

Very comfy as well and the handling is amazing.

I noticed at one point I was doing 60mph and the revcounter was only reading about 1750rpm!

Half my trip was in normal mode and the other half was in "green" mode and the average mpg at the end was 49.7mpg.
I was just driving in my usual way, not trying to be economical and going along with the speed of the traffic.

Thats not bad for an engine that is just out of the box.

So far, delighted with the car.

It is raining but I tried to take some pics and will put them up if I can manage to work out how!

Looking good !!

Loving the 'new car supermarket park' - ie miles from any other car . However I bet when you return there will be an old shed of a vehicle parked within a few millimetres width away from you.

Just in addition, the piece of damaged trim that I mentioned before is sorted.

I took a pic of it and sent it to the dealer and the head technician suggested it could be the pressure washer that they use may have forced the rubber to fold back on itself and appear to be damaged.
He was correct.

A bit of deft fiddling with a thin blade fixed it.
