So how do you feel about it that in 2017 you also have to fork out $ 500.00 for the basic colors.Honestly I find it pretty lame that BMW/Mini went that route. Never in my life did I pay for factory colors like white blue red etc etc. Now for special and sparkly colors I can see it. Makes me wonder since I have to pay either way solid or sparkle if I can order my next Mini in just plain primer have it shipped and have my Body Shop put the color of my choice on it. Like a color that stays on the car when you sneeze on it.:D:D

Well, now prospective buyers can walk in to their dealers and do an order and once all written up, say "I'm afraid I can't afford to pay $500 for the car to be painted, so no deal!" :(

I don't know the current exchange rate but in the UK for a hatch it is £495 extra but the strange thing is Moonwalk Grey which was £495 extra is now £0.00!!

In my view it's robbery and no way does it cost that much more then solid colours anyway! But all manufactures do it now!!

Yes basically the base colours were getting very popular according to our dealer so now only the grey is free! Great way of upping the price without having to advertise raised prices-have the least popular colour the only free one! Effectively a hidden £500 price rise-clever (or sneaky)?

I mean, that's what white and silver are right? Just the car in primer? ;)

I guess it allows them to advertise a lower base price; however, I find that a bit strange for premium brands.

In 1969 Ford advertised the Maverick (yes ... I'm that old) for $1,995. However, that did not include the mandatory outside mirrors. It's one thing for an economy brand (the Maverick was supposed to compete with VW).

Not sure why it matters for MINI/BMW/Audi/everyone else. If it's any consolation, the only free color on the new Audi S3 is yellow (ouch!).

Just went on the Mercedes Site you get 2 colors for free black/white the rest is $ 720.00 at least you have a free color option when you buy a Mercedes with the Mini there is only primer gray with a black or white roof. I guess you could count that as a free 2 color option also.:D

Not a good move by MINI IMHO :(

The base spec is miserly enough before this
