Hi everyone, I'd like your thoughts.
I'd like to start my car to always turn on in green mode or sport mode. I believe using the BimmerCode android app this is possible.

Has anyone tried it and does it work?
Are there any pitfalls to look out for?

I have a 67 plate Cooper.

Regards

I have a new 2018 Clubman S and was able to use BimmerCode so my car starts in Sport every time.

Only downside is gas consumption since I’m having too much fun with it.

I was able to enable the JCW heads up display using BimmerCode and the Vgate adapter. All I can say is that it’s worth buying it if this is the only thing you program.

You have to go in to expert mode in both the HUD and KOMBI ECUs and enable the following:

HUD, set HUD_SPORTANZEIGE_ENABLE, HUD_SPORTANZEIGE_FES_ENABLE, and HUD_SPORTANZEIGE_MS_GASSE_ENABLE to AKTIV.

So it’s six things you need to activate. Once you’re done, go in to your settings for the HUD and you’ll see new options for sports display.

I’m glad I could help. I guess I can understand why Mini doesn’t activate the tach to differentiate the JCW crowd but having this turned on now makes the whole HUD completely worth it. Now i just have to wait for BimmerCode to update the ASD ECU so I can turn off the annoying passenger seat belt warning.

Hi David, thanks again, is there anything else you think is a must to code?

So far I’ve done the following:
Door handle lights come on in reverse

Turned off the legal disclaimer

Sunroof opens and closes when using comfort access either from the fob or door handle (along with all windows)

Car starts in sport mode

JCW tach in the HUD

I also turned on JCW option for the center display lights but I don’t think it’s working properly. I see the option in settings but when I activate it, it does a weird red light pattern that I can’t make heads or tails of. I think there is another option that needs to be set with it.

I’ve had mine at or near redline a bunch of times and haven’t see those lines. I don’t think we get those.

On a brighter note, I coded the rear fogs to work as brake lights today and they work great.

BDC_BODY
3065 LceLampMapping4, ED
Funktionen
MAPPING_BREMSL_2_L_OUTPUT
Ausgelesen
click the setting (likely to be ‘Off’)
Change it to
nsl_l (this is the rear fog light choice)

You need to do this for right and left. Above is for left,
For RHS just change the l to r

MAPPING_BREMSL_2_R_OUTPUT
nsl_r

Thanks for the help on this one. The jcw tach looks great and nice to have sports mode start and no auto stop start. One quick question, is it possible to show the jcw tach outside of sports mode? On the rare occasion we switch it to eco/mid it is useful to have the gears in the hud. Cheers all.

Hmmm, that’s odd. On my car, the JCW tach is staying on in mid and sport (haven’t tried green mode).
