BimmerCode

Hi everyone, I'd like your thoughts.
I'd like to start my car to always turn on in green mode or sport mode. I believe using the BimmerCode android app this is possible.

Has anyone tried it and does it work?
Are there any pitfalls to look out for?

I have a 67 plate Cooper.

Regards

Got the coding for the Rev counter in the hud but it does not work. All coding correct but mine is a April 14 car and sure it has to be later for it to work.
Yeah I think it only works on the F54, F55 and F56 models, if yours is an R(something) then probably won't work

On my car i got the John Cooper Works led light ring working. NBT_HU_EVO > 3000 > John Cooper Works HMI > Aktiv then enable in settings under standard view

I have it enabled as well. Any idea what any of it means?

Mine is an F56 but a very early one. The JCW did not come out to later that year and I can remember somebody posted that it only worked on late 2014 on cars.
Can anyone tell me what setting it is to start in sport mode? Thats the main reason I wanted this. Thanks in advance.
Accelerate (turbo pressure i believe) and the red bar illuminates around the right hand side and then brake and it moves round the left hand side. Similar to the 'Engine Speed' setting but a bit more manly

I don't use Bimmercode, but here's how to do it in ESYS (or presumably Bimmercode's Expert mode) in the BDC section:

FESALLOWMODE7LASTFUNCTION --> Aktiv
FESALLOWMODE4LASTFUNCTION --> Aktiv
(These allow GREEN and SPORT modes to be recalled after shutdown)

FESLASTFUNCTIONINTERVAL --> Werte=FF
(Sets the time that the last mode is remembered. Changing to "FF" ensures there is no timeout and the last driving mode will always be recalled)
I was just having a nose on the MINI site and noticed a pic of the HUD on a JCW, which shows the tach and sort of like bars either side of it. Does anybody know what these are and how to add them? I coded the tach but only get that, not the bars (I know the speed sign is part of the driving assistance pack) - just curious!

The bars appear when you approach the red line, ie time to shift up a dear.

oooh I hadn't noticed those, I'll have to rag it a bit now just to see!!!
Thanks, I'll have to give it a try too! Ha
I’ve had mine at or near redline a bunch of times and haven’t see those lines. I don’t think we get those.

On a brighter note, I coded the rear fogs to work as brake lights today and they work great.

BDC_BODY
3065 LceLampMapping4, ED
Funktionen
MAPPING_BREMSL_2_L_OUTPUT
Ausgelesen
click the setting (likely to be ‘Off’)
Change it to
nsl_l (this is the rear fog light choice)

You need to do this for right and left. Above is for left,
For RHS just change the l to r

MAPPING_BREMSL_2_R_OUTPUT
nsl_r

David

Thanks for the help on this one. The jcw tach looks great and nice to have sports mode start and no auto stop start. One quick question, is it possible to show the jcw tach outside of sports mode? On the rare occasion we switch it to eco/mid it is useful to have the gears in the hud. Cheers all.

Hmmm, that’s odd. On my car, the JCW tach is staying on in mid and sport (haven’t tried green mode).

I've tried, but I don't have the bars too :/.
Is there an option to activate from bimmercode to have them ?
I stand corrected. The tach does turn off in mid mode.

No problem David, I just assume there is a setting hidden away somewhere. Will keep looking

Easy fix. The option to display in other modes is in the HUD settings on the car's centre screen.

D’oh.....I must have checked that sport mode box in the HUD settings sometime after I coded the tach. Thought my advancing age was playing tricks on me.

Today I was very close to brick my F55 Cooper AT
Here's what I tried to code with bimmercode:
* Start the engine without pressing brake. This option simple made my car not starting the engine at all. Nor with brake pedal down, nor without it - the engine didn't start. (I tried a long press on the start button, too). Then I tried "recover from backup", but it constantly failed reaching 15%. Finally I got it fixed setting this option back to "inactive". Oh God, it helped!
* Sounds when locking-unlocking the car. This option is now in the settings menu, but I can't enable it. Should I have an alarm to get speakers to beep?
* Video (codecs, video in movement) - still had no chance to test
* Start-stop off by default - it's the only option which worked
To sum it up, my experience with bimmercode is negative.

You can't get lock/unlock sound unless you have the alarm system. I don't have video or automatic so I can't help you there.
