Does anyone know if the factory bonnet stripes are under or over the clearcoat?

While I am not 100% sure about my stripes being factory fit (my F55 is an ex demo), they are over the clear coat and just stuck on like normal vinyl.

Over as they're only sticky vinyl.

I think it would be a nice touch if they were painted when factory fitted. Have to be carefull when polishing...

We had a local vinyl graphics company do some black 'humbug' over-roof twin stripes on our (now long gone) '07 plate white Mini One. Looked great, stood up to 4+ years of car washes without any sign of deterioration or peeling. Cant remember what they cost, but wasn't a lot. Knowing me would have been cheaper than dealer option.

Asked my dealer to install stripes on my Mini. Said they would not do it because the protection was on the nose. Said they hd to remove the protection to put the stripes on.

Our new MINI was pre-built with no stripes and had the dealer quote up for some stripes - as others have said it goes over the clearcoat.

Ended up going independent as the dealer quoted a pretty penny to have them done, I can highly recommend Printworx in Oxfordshire - price was a 1/4 that of the dealer and they did a fantastic job. They have a website and are on Facebook too - can highly recommend them if anyone is looking to have some aftermarket stripes!

Same with the roof vinyl - my chequered roof quote was something like £300!!

I ended up buying the chequered vinyl from Mini for £109 and having a local firm apply it for £50.

If I were to do it again I'd have the local firm both produce and apply as that would be even cheaper.
