With respect to my long going (11 months now) attempt to get my "free" wall charger installed they threw a new curved ball at me this afternoon...

*Land registry documentation needs to be supplied - this is to evidence that location of unit is within land owned by the customer.

This was just one in their list of new requirements, but Land Registry documents ???

And they can't even do grammar, it should be "the location of the unit" not "location of unit"

Anyone else been asked for Land Registry documentation ???

Yes they did ask for more info from me as well claiming that the Land Registry I provided was a "transfer"... then it all went away... Finally got it installed after six months but now after another month I still cannot connect to it via their portal as they never sent me the email with instructions! I can use the charger to charge the car but I cannot manage it like lock etc. I asked BP support to resend the email with instructions and they told me they cannot... What?

Here is the link for the BP Portal for the new charger. You should have received a text from BP with a password in the the format of two words filled by a number like “SmokyOnions14”

As it seems they are using it as yet another stalling tactic, I went on-line to see how much it costs....

Providing you find the correct "dot gov dot uk" portal for the Land Registry you just have to enter postcode and house number/name and the information, freehold or leasehold, plus a lot more information is totally in the public domain....

Totally free and something they could easily have done themselves, the information is not restricted to the owner.

curve ball
LOL.

If I was speaking american surely it would be curveball (all one word).

In the UK, adding the "d" and keeping it seperate words just makes is past tense - which it is !!! (I got the email before I posted).

Oooh a grammar post! It doesn't make it past tense, because in your sentence "curve" is an adjective, not a verb (the verb is to throw, which you put in the past tense as "threw").

I think on this occasion we need to let the Americans have this one, since it is their sport and expression. You could've gone for "bowled me a googly" if you wanted to keep it British. 😁

I agree with your analysis 🧐

Whatever your definition of British or American grammar is (and having lived in both countries I do know the differences) it doesn't alter the point that BP, after 11 months of doing nothing, have suddenly added another requirement - that they could have easily found out themselves in less than 30 secs - but are just trying to find another excuse to avoid their contractual responsibilities.

Gov web site for freehold vs leasehold details,

Really not that difficult is it ?

My question was have/had anyone else had this hassle ?

I got two sensible replies so thanks to mustafasoleiman for saying he also did and another sensible response from ventmore who said he didn't.

Anyone else who wants to add whether they were asked to verify their freehold/leasehold status, feel free to add your experience, I wont be offended if you use UK or USA grammar.

BP have no contractual commitment to you at all.
Your contact “if any” is with the garage who supplied the car. I’m still yet to see that you have any contract at all for a “free” wall box.

Well, progress at last....

Octopus changed the meter "tails" last week and the DNO booked a date early Sept to change the fuse.

So I asked BP if they will install before Sept but downrate it pending the fuse chamge and, to my extreme suprise, they have said yes and will just accept my word that the property is freehold and will set it at 3kW and uprate it remotely once the fuse is changed.

Fingers crossed.....

Well either BP gave up on the Land Registry thing or actually used the link I gave them to the dot gov dot uk website but they have finally given me a date for a complete installation for Wednesday next week......
Initially downrated until the DNO changes the fuse (early Sept)
I'll believe it when I actually see it, as it's over a year since I "paid" for it (included in the price for the MINI).
I have had to pay an additional fee (beyond the standard installation cost paid for by the dealer) due to the cable length required but that was expected as the sales contract for the car did say a "standard" BP installation included and my cable lenght is much longer than their standard 15m.
Due to the years delay I am "apparently" going to get their newest version (the one that has everything "connected") but, again, i'll believe it once I see it.
