Hi all,

Has anyone else been told there is now no definitive build date for their MINI. If so, has anyone asked for any other options to added to their spec and has anyone been cheeky enough to ask for it free?

Just curious to know whether it's something to ask my dealer tomorrow when he gives me an update.

I emailed my dealer this morning asking for an update. He said, and I quote "... Currently there has been no updates since this information was announced last week. The issue with the roof is currently being investigated but as the colour is white silver (that I've ordered) and the only colour options are black or white, the only way to bring your car forward is to change the colour and have a colour coded roof to match the body of the car."

I'm going in to the dealer tomorrow afternoon to double check my order with them & also see if they would be willing to throw in a little something extra....

I'm sorry to hear that. Common sense says that you're in a queue and whatever the issue, I'm sure that MINI will want to rectify it relatively soon. I wouldn't change the colour unless more definitive information on the issue comes through. If you change the colour and production resumes fairly quickly you'll end up regretting it. I'm awaiting a pepper white MCS with a black roof and I'd want to see a press release or an official note to dealerships before changing options....

So I saw my dealer yesterday afternoon.

I asked him whether they had any further update on the delays with the black roof & mirror caps. He said that the issue was with the machines that paint the roofs - that because the new roofs are bigger, there is an issue with the painting of the roofs (my assumption is there's an issue with the programming of the mechanic painters) although he also turned round & said that body coloured roofs are fine (which doesn't make much sense as surely they program them to the same coordinates or whatever but just change the paint colour inside the machine???)

Either way, I still have no build date.... So the wait continues...

I am beginning to think I am lucky that my car escaped. Not seen another one at all on the road in the last week.

I genuinely hope that all of the issues, roof painting, unbalanced diesel engines and oil filter housings get sorted as soon as poss and everyone get their cars. Must be really embarrassing for MINI/BMW as the three cylinder engines are a big part of their plans going forward...

I don't want to question the validity of the dealer's statement but my order is also a black contrast roof on pepper white. I've been told that it entered the paint shop yesterday - I'd like to think that the car's production would not have started if it could not be finished. Contrast roofs are popular and I can't imagine that they have space for lots of unfinished cars. It may not be black and white however, if you can excuse the pun, i.e. they may have some capability to paint contrast roofs but at a reduced volume.

I reckon you must be right - after all, some cars are out there already with contrasting roofs. And mine is all built - complete with black roof - albeit stuck at dealer due to the other issue! So they must be able to do it, just not terribly fast!!

I don't want to rub salt into an open wound or appear smug but my petrol f56 has left the factory and is going to be delivered on the 16th of April. Which we arranged when it was ordered ages ago!

I only mention it because Mini and/or the dealers need to be a bit more open and honest about what is going on....

Spoke to my dealer this morning in NYC, this was her response:


"The car is coming along it is in transit so it should be arriving at the port soon. That recall doesn't affect cars that are in production or just came out, only cars that have already hit the ground at dealerships, hence you are all good."


Ordered was a f56 thunder gray with the fully loaded package.

Spoke to my dealer this morning in NYC, this was her response:


"The car is coming along it is in transit so it should be arriving at the port soon. That recall doesn't affect cars that are in production or just came out, only cars that have already hit the ground at dealerships, hence you are all good."


Ordered was a f56 thunder gray with the fully loaded package.

Hmm, looks like I'll be putting an email out to my dealer now then, to get an update. I saw him last week Sat & he said no production date until end of May - never mind delivery. I ordered 1st March as well so eels like this wait is going on forever!!

Interesting - whilst I was going through so many dealerships - a lot of them did point out that builds vary according to slots that each dealership has.

Now I can't hold onto that point but logically it would make sense.

Anyway - that's me and all I can say is good luck - luckily for me my saleswoman is keeping me in the loop - no need for me to phone!

Well either I'm in luck or else it's going to go wrong - but I spoke to Gemma this morning and no reason to believe that anything will go wrong - so still end of May from an order last Thursday!

any1 have any more info on the delats with the diesel models, mine was meant to b ready for collection almost 2 weeks ago but is delayed and not getting much information from dealer or mini......feeling very out of the loop and frustrated.

told by MINI UK customer services manager today that there is an engine problem with the counter balance shaft and they have no date for any deliveries - I'm waiting for a petrol cooper so what to do.....

Delayed till first week of July



Everything is unfortunately having a knock on effect - that means it will be three months plus until she comes! That's if they have that correct!!!

Gemma did say that she hopes the car to pull up in production beforehand but...



I've not driven my own car properly for over a year and a half - especially with all the troubles with the A5 caused and in part with my own health last year - I knew I had to accept that May would probably be too sweet considering everyone else is suffering!!!

Here we are then - hopefully some good news will surface...
