So the car went into the dealership today as the drivers seat was moving side to side, just had a call to say that they need to order a new seat frame but because I have the Mini Yours Carbon seats and they are fairly new they are on back order! They have no idea when they will be in the UK from Germany. They told me it is safe to drive and I do understand issues occur in new cars but to have a car where the drivers seat moves side to side is a little concerning. Guess there is nothing I can do but wait to see when the new seat frame arrives although a little unhappy with Mini not even being able to provide a date as to when the frame will arrive.

i think i would be asking if there is any other kind of seat they can fit until the correct one is available. how do they know the problem won't get worse - or how long the seat will be in backorder? if they can't do that i would be asking for a loan car

Yes me too and if it's only the frame why can't they take the cover off yours and put it on a new one,not good! This could happen to any new car, certainly with mini never heard of this before but it's how the dealer handles it is the big one and yours doesnt sound that great. Surely it's dangerous?

Apparently the frame on a Mini Yours seat is different from a standard seat, they are now saying they are unable to state if safe so I can't collect and they are trying to sort out a courtesy car but do not know how long I will be in the courtesy car until car parts come in! Not happy to leave my two week old car at the dealership!

Been told it could be up to two months before parts are available! This means I will not be able to use my two week old car and will be in a loaner for all this time! It better be at least the same sort of specification. Anyone got any other thoughts on what more I could do to get this sorted?

You may have grounds to reject it since your right is a fix in reasonable time. What's reasonable. Well personally I don't think 2 months is at all reasonable! Very poor.the threat might hurry them?

Really don't want to reject the car as apart from the wobbly seat I love it! Might push them for some sort of goodwill gesture depending on how long it takes to resolve. Apparently they will be delivering a loan car by Monday

Don't reject it but tell them you want something decent like a few hundred quid, TLC for free if you paid for it or a couple of years extra warranty if you plan to keep it?

Lay on the really disappointed and feel so let down talk.

If they don't play ball then say you are rejecting the car and expect another ordered, that should do the trick.

This should have been picked up at the predelivery inspection and you should not have been asked to take delivery.

Who would you say that I discuss this with Mini UK or dealership? Not going to reject the car but as I am now going to be without my own car for an extended period I think they should offer something. Would you suggest writing or calling with request and should I do that now or once I have the car back?

Thanks

Your contract is with the dealership and nothing to do with MINI. Sounds weird but that is what the supply of goods act says. MINI Customer Services will be experts in fobbing you off!

So, a letter to the dealer principal and copied to MINI UK is the way to go.

That's correct but it's hardly at that stage yet and save the dealer principle for later IMHO
We had major problems with our R56 S and pressure through mini UK senior contact after getting escalation form customer service so it does help but have to get past the standard responses.
If I was to list the faults in our last car it should have rejected but we got amicable settlement and was great car for 6 years after this.
I would say after two weeks work up the ladder but I'm sure my PM should help make mini aware of the situation, just keep them on side as will yield better outcome , having been self employed for near 30 years has served me well.and if you here the words it's a characteristic of the car it's time to push harder and ignore the corporate BS
Good luck

Been through all this. Mini UK won't help as, strangely, it has nothing to do with them. According to the sale of goods act it's all down to the dealer. However, in my dealings, I managed to get things moving by emailing the dealer and cc'ing mini customer services.

Honestly it's a tough fight because you feel for the dealer. If they are giving you the loan car, they are probably being reasonable.

areed dealer first then ramp up slowly. Don't feel sorry for the dealer they claim back costs from mini and are quite keen for warranty work in my experience. Nicely nicely first. With our yummy Hyundai i20 the dealer actually asked us to contact Hyundai uk to put pressure on them to let them do what was needed! The more you work with the dealer the better.
