Cargo Net

Does the cargo net you can buy at the dealer fit right into the std. storage compartment in the boot? I have 4 black round tabs on the sides that look like where the net may attach. Just checking before I buy one.

Thanks,

John

Thanks....I need to investigate this a little bit more. I see that net, but it operates a bit different than what I'd expect to use a net for. Honestly, I really don't see the purpose of a net attached like it the pic. Seems that it would work best to hold things "down" that are in the bottom compartment from moving about, not store flat things on the lid.

I wonder if there is another style net that can attach to the sides of the compartment, since I see 4 black tabs (1 on each side and 2 on the rear panel that look like something could attach to them. I suppose I could make a net work there if MINI doesn't make a net to attache that way.

The "Floor Net" I see in the dealer accessories information appears to attach to the sides of the floor compartment, but not where I found the black tabs.....so, maybe the floor compartment needs to be modified with brackets for the net?
Mine was built mid April and it was missing, the driver sunshade, netting in the boot and dash storage. I was told that the dash storage and driver sunshade were not able to be retrofitted but they did fix the boot netting for me. Fast forward 6 weeks and I have just had the drivers sunshade installed cost $200. They didn't charge me for installation which was $55 more.

I hope to one day have the dash compartment retro fitted when it becomes available.
Would it be possible for you to put up a pic of your netting in place? How does it attach?

I wouldn't think you'd have to order the compartment storage option to get a net. Should be a simple net that attaches across the sides of the standard floor compartment in the boot.

Thanks,

John
Ditto here my MCS had cargo net and side sun visor.... my JCW doesn't....built in May. Not too bothered though.....never used net and visor gets in the way IMO.

Oh, you're just an ole curmudgeon! ;)

So, it looks like I won't be getting a net...probably wouldn't use it much if ever anyway. Just seems kinda dumb that MINI would purposely not have the floor plugged or somehow made so that a floor net could be added by unplugging covers and installing rings or something for when a MINI owner needed a net. Should be a simple process...not having to destroy or replace the stock coverings just to have a simple net.

It appears to me (and I'm a novice on this topic) that there are two types of nets: A net that attaches on the underside of the compartment cover when the storage package option is ordered (this net seems worthless to me!); then there's the floor net that attaches to the sides of the depressed open compartment in the boot...and you need special hooks or attaching points to be able to use the floor net.

Does that sound about right? (Or, maybe the net attached to the underside of the storage package "cover" when not in use, but it can be attached to the floor?)..so, maybe there's only one style net, with two attachment locations?

The floor net makes the most sense to me, and I'd think it would be at least installable in every MINI, whether or not you ordered a net with the car or not...should be an accessory.

I was hoping to get some more definitive feedback on this, since the dealer really doesn't have a clue...hard to find knowledge on such things on a relatively new generation car. I guess it's suppose to be a MINI Corporate secret so you'll order "everything" when configuring the car! LOL!

Maybe I am wrong but it seems that Mini has removed the cargo net from the storage compartment pack. The false floor is still there but now with no holes and no net. On RealOEM I can still see the false floor and net...maybe you can order them both...?

Very helpful! It appears that Nos. 13 (Tie-down ring) & 14 (Cover, fastening loop) are the 4 parts that are in my depressed compartment on the sides (4 in total)....looks like 4 are required. This makes me wonder if indeed there is a net that can attach to these 4 black buttons attached to the sides (as I said b4, there are two on the back side panel and 1 each on the side panels). The side panel pieces are located about where you can see item no. 12 shown on the exploded view (Expanded rivet)....hmmmm
Do you have the part number for the floor net?
The part numbers you'll find in the links I gave for realOEM.
The RealOEM exploded view only shows the double net that attaches to the underside of the optional lid (#4) with 5 hooks. I didn't see a P/N for the floor net with 4 attaching points.
Here's a pic from my dealer parts guy....he took a phone pic of another MINI in their inventory. Why doesn't this net come standard with every MINI? The attachment hooks are there on my car (2 on the seatbacks; 2 on the rear side of the floor compartment).

I'll likely buy this one, but I still would like a net that lays flat on the floor in the compartment.

Once I get the part # I will post it up. Open pic with Adobe to view.

.....Noticed on UK configurator they still mention a floor net as part of the storage pack that comes with Chilli pack -so where is it??? But of course as usual there is the normal disclaimer at the foot of the options.......we reserve the right to do this and that etc.....without telling their customers. That is definitely one way to drop places in the Annual Drivers Power Top 100 Survey.
Yup, there is "still" a floor net "somewhere"....cannot seem to get any answers. I'll probably get the tall net though....at least I'll have something to possibly use to keep things from juggling about back there! :)

Got my new Cargo Net today...see thumbnail pics. I actually quite like this net. It stretches out nice & firm and will definitely help keep things in place when I have items in the boot compartment.

BMW Group Part Number is 51 47 0 010 565 (It's called Boot/Trunk Floor Net)

Cheers,

John

It might not be included with the car, but the net is still available....

Well, I have a car cover & an air pump/gell kit in my boot secured with my cargo net....nice & snug, but there's plenty of room for a tool kit & more. Personally, I prefer not having the storage compartment since I can get more stuff in the sunken boot area with net. What's not to like?
