Sorry not very helpful. I suppose you could try a spray but would it harm the paint. A cover perhaps as they like the engine warmth so stopping them will be very tricky.

Any ideas on how to keep cats off car bonnets as mine is getting scratched and not sure how to stop it sitting on the car ? ????

Ideas:

"Cats hate the smell of mothballs. Get a pack of mothballs and put them in a couple of old socks. Place them right inside the lip of the car cover or safety pin them on the inside edge near the bottom. That should deter the cat from wanting to climb under the cover.

You could also try an apple- I found a story online that placing an apple on the roof of the car will actually keep them away, for some reason, but they say it works.

There's also ultrasonic devices that makes sounds that we can't hear bu the cats can. It's a much more expensive solution, but it could work too. Or a car cover, although that sounds like a ton of work to me.

Wax the car, and find a hose long enough to reach inside the shed. Lurk nonchalantly. When you see a cat on the car, hose down the car and the cat. With any luck the cat will jump off. A few sessions like that should do the trick.

Wipe down the window with kerosene then wash it clean. There'll be enough remaining odor to keep the cats away.

If you have a car alarm, watch for the cat and activate it when they come near. If they're on the car, however, this might cause them to panic and scratch the car."

My 40+ years of experience with cats says to make your car up like a cat bed and act like you want the cat to sit on the car. That will guarantee the cat will never get up there again. That, or put a box with an old towel in it near your car. Never seen a cat yet that could resist a box. Now, an instructor of mine at an Air Force base out west came out one day to find a mountain lion curled up on his truck. He just called in to say he would be late for work... that's one you don't spray with a hose.

Somebody out on the intertubes (I think it was instructables.com) set up a sprinkler with a motion sensor. He had it rigged to blast the cats when the sensor detected furry movement.

The downside is you'll be washing your car a lot.

Look on the bright side - at least the bonnet is just (warm) painted metal. I had a pair of Alcantara Recaros in my house, wrapped in dust sheets and my cat would spend ages trying to worm its way under the dust sheets.

My conclusion is that cat heaven is lined throughout in Alcantara.

They also like to color coordinate. Dark cats sleep on light fabric, light cats go for the dark... usually right before you need to put whatever it happens to be on, especially if you're in a hurry heh

It could have been concrete and the cat would have tried to get on it... the key was that the cat knew you were trying to keep cats off whatever was under there!
