Hi guys

At this moment I'm thinking of OEM armrest install for my mini (Actually mine is F55).
Just wondering how you guys are feeling if you have this.
I heard some ppl said it better you don't have it coz it bothers you due to its position.

It's not cheap one, have to change not only the armrest but console part as well, so I want to seriously consider it after your opinion first.

One more, If some one had experience install the armrest without changing new console but cut out only the small part of original console, please share the details?
Please check this attached photo file.

Thanks in advance!

dont bother

I guess the answer is, depends on the person.

i find i have to hook it up out of the way. its annoying, and interferes with my ability to use the hand brake.

I learned on there the other day that you can push it down one more click, which reduces its height by about 1cm,

but its still in the way.

im actually considering removing it altogether.

regards peter

I agree with wintpe. Its a bit useless in my car.

To explain - when it is down, that's fine for motorways when very few gear changes are needed, but it's in the way for lots of gear changes, dropping it to its lowest level helps but then it gets in the way of the handbrake.
So - it spends 99% of its life in the "up" position, between the seats, but even then, I have my seat quite far back & my elbow hits it on gear changes - if I could do it neatly I'd remove it altogether.

I agree-had it in my f56 cooper and never used it; it stayed in the up out of the way position and even that annoyed my wife! useful for sunglasses and that was about it! On the f54 with the electric handbrake it is so so so much better- it's not a moveable rest but because of the extra space it's just perfect!
So long story short, i wouldn't bother either!

Never had a issue, mines down all the time. Sure it can't accommodate much but still like it for doing what it's name applies an arm rest.

Space round the handbrake lever etc is tight but I don't find it a problem :)

Wow, not easy to decide but many thanks you guys for all above your earnest opinion. :D

Now I'm thinking of putting this behind of me for a while and think of other priorities first; e.g secret box (upper component at the side seat), replace front grill to chrome etc. coz 2016 mini deleted such things coz of cost saving..

Mini costs sometimes more than my GF, altho she has no idea what's new or replaced at all. lol

Thanks again gents!

Exactly my feelings. I added the armrest console to my JCW order last year at the last minute & I am so glad I have the armrest now! I have the manual trans too & I have never found the console to be in the way while driving. I do put mine in the forward down position though & find it to be ergonomically perfect for the F56!

Most drivers find the armrest console a pain who use the touch control & it might depend on the driver, but overall it's more of a plus than a minus.
