I ordered my F56 JCW in Chilli Red at the weekend. When configuring the car i wanted to go with the black bonnet stripes. When the salesman tried to add them on the system it wouldn't let him.

At the time i wasn't too bothered but I spoke to him yesterday and had decided that I really liked the look and would like them. Got a call today to say it definitely isn't possible and that was that.

The only thing he could do was get the stripes from the parts dept at £75 and get them fitted at £35, adding upto £110 when the factory ones are only £80.

I know its only £30 but surely this isn't quite right. Every picture on the web of a chilli red jcw has the stripes including the wallpaper picture on the salesmans computer.

Anyone know whats going on here, is it possible and the sales guy is doing something wrong? The web configurator lets you add them.

Seems a bit strange as you can spec it on the Mini configurator with the black stripes?

I'm surprised your dealer won't do it for the same cost as a jesture of good will to keep your business...

He seemed quite clear that paying £110 was the only solution

Problem is the cars ordered and the deposits been paid so he knows I'm not likely to cancel over bonnet stripes

dealership manager time, get grumpy, thats definitely not on and shouldnt spoil the experience. Previous mini, we had a local sign writer do custom viper stripes. They were £80ish from memory, roof, top and tail.

Yeah I'll have another word with them this weekend when I'm free, i just can't believe they aren't configurable from the ordering system they have.

Agree, the fact they are advertised for £80 but the dealer is saying £110 is enough to go on. Its irrelevant to you who fits them, dealer or factory. Its Mini and they are advertised at £80. end of. Seems like they are being a bit silly to me, im sure they'll sort it

The salesman might have been trying to add the JCW bonnet stripes instead of the black with white edging! There "is" a difference of course. The JCW bonnet stripes are black but have red edging which I like even on a red MINI! Configurator in the USA won't allow the JCW bonnet stripes on Chili Red! Just nuts not allowing the standard black bonnet stripes from the factory....I don't believe that for one minute!

Does the car you are ordering have a black roof?

I don't think you can spec black bonnet stripes without the black roof.

The dealer sounds poor to me!

had a hicup myself this week with stripes, wanted black with white edging, but apparently thats not available for the clubman, so we got these instead...

Yes pal, Black roof and black mirrors. I've emailed mini customer services to find out what's going on.

Just a thought but would a different dealer but from the same group be able to amend the order? I guess they might not simply because they're not getting anything from the deal.

Might be correct, but Ibelieve I've seen JCW's with red roof that have the JCW bonnet stripes...maybe that only holds for the non JCW black bonnet stripes? Oops replied to the wrong post...oh well, you get the idea. ;-)

Very strange. Our dealer has an independent stripe man. Any stripe to any mini for less than factory fitted stripes. Your dealer is being very odd. Surely after buying the car from them the least they could do is fit them for free. You are paying full price for the stripe too. They won't pay that for them!ask for trade discount or fitted at cost or go independent.plenty around.

I emailed customer services last night but so far I've not had a reply. I couldn't get to the phone today to ring them as works been so hectic. I'll see if I get any joy tomorrow and if not I'll just take delivery without them and get them fitted elsewhere.

The dealer is obviously doing something wrong like adding the jcw stripes with the red in, which I could understand the system not allowing. Doesn't fill me with confidence regarding servicing etc, I'll think I'll go elsewhere for that.

Some one said this already, but I think your dealer got confused trying to add JCW stripes. I found that when I ticked the JCW stripes, the black roof cancelled. Good job as I actually wanted the black stripes with the white edges, and that's what I've ordered, just a week ago so it should be possible.

Cheers for that, like you said your not the first to mention it but i'm glad you've ordered them successfully and recently. I've messaged the dealer with the info and i'll wait to see what he says tomorrow.

I know they're only a couple of stickers but its actually beginning to play on my mind.
