That's awful! I went right out & looked at my MINI & it's nice and tight....no material at all. That's wrong....your dealer should correct that no question! Actually, your dealer should have caught that during their new car checklist review....shame on them!!

It has to do with the interior fabric and the adhesive. Take it to the dealer. They will trim it up and it shouldn't take long (took the Italians 4 hours to do it).

Definitely a dealer fix. If you have adamp smell from inside the car, might be able to get a interior detail done at the same time and blame it on that. Call it compensation of your time due to the dealership failing to perform a proper QA.

At first it was not noticeable, until now.

Here's a picture from the other side. Notice that from a few feet away it's not noticeable, but maybe in a few months and with a few pressure washes it will get worst like the other side.

I am sure I have read about this issue in a previous thread last year on this very forum. May be worth your while doing some searching?

For the life of me I cannot understand how this got through quality control at the factory and dealership?

Good luck and let everyone know how you get on.

Anyone notice this piece of cloth between the rear glass and pillar?

Hey, I had that too (on my 2016 MCS 4dr) until yesterday when I saw that it was sticking out a bit more then usual. It was raining all night, so I though of cutting it but as soon as I gently pulled, it started to rip and come out. In the end I just pulled it out. The cloth/fabric strip was about 3 or 4 mm wide, very thin piece of something. Don't see anything sticking out from another quarter window. I have looked at the MINI instructions and there is no word about that fabric. The window is tightly attached using special sealer tape.

I found an image online and that fabric doesn't seem to compromise the water seal
