1,864,289 Mini hatches have been built since 2001, and the last of the current generation was just completed at the Mini plant in Oxford. have no fear though, the factory has already begun production of the brand new 2014 MINI, which should hit British showrooms in Spring.

Wow! That's a lot of MINIs.

Actually its not that many. Its about ~150,000 MINI's per year globally, across all body styles. or 13,000 vehicles globally per month.

Compare that to the Ford Focus that sells 200K+ vehicles per year in the US alone...

This is so true. Just a drive around any large city and you'll see way more new Focus sedans and hatches than ANY type of Mini.

Same goes for any compact in the same segment as the Focus.

You wouldn never catch me dead in a Focus or any Ford products...
years ago I would agree with you on that statement but Ford has actually improved big time over the years. The new Escape, Focus hatch and sedan are GREAT cars.

Still nothing close to being as good as anything from BMW or Mini, but they improved.

Isnt the fiesta hatch more along the lines of a cheap hatch and not something as premium as the Mini?
It's definitely not direct competition

Ford was the only North American auto company on my list for our new car. I loved their European models and love the Fusion in particular Can't stand any other model in their strictly car line.

Needless to say, we're chasing our dreams and went with a MINI. :)
