I have this sorted now but I thought i'd just post about the frustration I had last week with Sandal Mini In Huddersfield!.
Back in February (the 13th to be exact) I was having a bad day, It was the 2nd anniversary of my Mam passing away and so I had a lot on my mind!.
We decided to go and watch 'Point Break' at the cinema and having certain things running through my mind I did the unthinkable and kerbed one of my JCW cup spoke alloys, i'd been watching a brand new wheel for a few weeks on ebay that I thought I might get as a spare so before the film had even started i'd made arrangements to pick up the wheel in Bradford after the film. So I picked up the wheel for £170 and also got a Pirelli run flat off the guy for £40 so all good. We decided before returning home we'd visit the new shopping centre in Bradford that had opened recently which turned out to be a bit poor so we set off home and then...... on the exit of the car park I caught the big new yellow kerbs that go down either side of the exit barrier!!!! Kerbing the same wheel again and the back one also:crying: after an argument in the car we returned home gutted. The next day I phoned the wheel insurance place that I had for my wheels and booked it in at the dealer for two wheels diamond cut refurbing (my closest dealer was unable to do this as the person who does this is on long term sick so It had to go 30 miles away to Huddersfield). On the day I booked it in and returned home in my courtesy car then went back to bed as I work nights, later that afternoon I get a call saying my car is ready??? mmm I smell a rat as diamond refurbing takes a while as you know they have to be powder coated then machined on a lathe then lacquered. As I pulled into the car park I noticed my nice shiny car so went over to investigate, I couldn't believe my eyes... they had masked them up and sprayed to two areas with paint!!! and this was the bloody dealer!!!. I told them I wasn't taking it home like that and after arguing ended up going home without my car. When I got home I had an email from the insurance company saying that they had been informed from the dealer that I had my car back and was happy with the work done, I phoned them up and explained what had happend and they instantly cancelled payment to the dealer and said they would escalate this further as they keep using that dealer for Diamond cut refurbs and paying them for them when all they are doing is cosmetic. The next day I spoke to the guy in service who told me that's the way they do it and always have and had no complaints before and they were sending someone back with my car!!!! I was furious and wanted to speak to someone else so about an hour later I got another call from the guys supervisor who said they would have to send them somewhere else but would have to be after the bank holiday. They returned my car and I waited two weeks for the re-booked date, picked up another courtesy car which I had for two days while the wheels were being done which turned out to be a few miles from my house:|. When I eventually collected my car all sorted right this time I couldn't believe they had used MY fuel to drive the car back past my house to the wheel specialist.
Like I say It all got sorted out but caused me so much aggro and frustration from the dealer.
They did ask that I returned the courtesy car with the same amount of fuel as it had when I picked it up, I did... It went back with none!

Sounds like insurance fraud and pocketing the profit. Years ago I knew of a certain dealer's parts department that often billed for genuine FIAT/Lancia parts that were sourced from a local auto-parts store economy line! I guess the excuse was the factory part wasn't in stock but it's still illegal.

Hi,
Kerbed one of my JCW 18" Cup Spokes a couple of weeks ago.

Took the wheel to a company called The Wheel Specialist who have franchises across the country.
They did an excellent job and returned the wheel back to factory look for £120.

Sorry to hear about your issue with your dealer.

As you have said, diamond cut alloys require to be repaired using specialised equipment. Most dealers simply don't invest in that as it is very expensive. That's fine if they send the car to a specialist to be fixed. In your case they are having a laugh. Report the dealer to Mini UK and get the insurance company to confirm the situation. You should be compensated for your inconvenience and the dealer should be duly punished by Mini UK.

The wheels did end up being done by the wheel specialist, the one in Garforth near Leeds that is only a few miles away from me and yeah they did a great job, my problems were reported to BMW uk who did actually get in touch with the Sandal garage but they didn't seem too bothered.
