Hi

I used the trip computer for the first time during a long journey, the result was 45mpg that I was impressed with (300 mile of mostly motorway in green with a short burst of sport).

However on the instrument cluster behind the steering wheel it's reading 35mpg. Why is this figure different?

Probably because they were reset at different times so they are calculated over different distances.

Don't rely on the figures form the computer.
I was told by the service department that on my R55 they can adjust the readout by + or - 10%.
I always brim up and have a phone app which does the calculations.

How do I reset the mpg on the display behind the steering wheel?

To reset, press and hold the button on the end of the indicator stalk.

You have a trip computer, for the current trip and a long term on board computer, this is why you get differing readings.

The one behind the steering wheel is the on board (long term) reading.

My computer is only out by about 0.5 mpg compared with a brim to brim calculation.

somewhere on this site there was a posting informing of a unpublished back door to enable adjustment of MPG calibration. Holding left stalk down for 10+secs....or something like that to activate ? I cannot find this posting.....can anyone help ?
