Hi guys,

I have a 16 plate f54 clubman CS.
The run flat tyres on the car are by far the worst tyres I have ever experienced on a car. Horrible ride, so crashy and whenever you encounter a pothole the car will try and flick sideways when you go over it.

I’m looking for a set of good performance tyres that have good grip and will handle the extra performance when I tune the car.
I was looking at Michelin PS4s, but does anyone have any recommendations for a similar tyre that’s a bit cheaper?

happy to buy the ps4s if they’re night and day better than the rest.

thanks guys!

Hi Dcon.
I also went from runflat to non-runflat & it made the single biggest improvement to a car that I've ever experienced. (2016 JCW F56)
I believe that you wouldn't be disappointed with PS4s however they are rather expensive as you say.
I did a ton of research into it - (the Tyre Reviews channel on youtube was excellent) & I went for:

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5s - they did extremely well against their rivals - & I found them a fair bit cheaper than most too.
I'm 100% pleased with them.
I hope this helps.

thanks so much for your reply. You’re happy with the way the goodyears perform all round? How much are they a corner?

My new Cooper S came with Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric something’s and they seem really good however the car is being run in and has less than 1000 miles on it. Much better than the Hankooks on my previous Mini.

We just replaced the Pirelli run-flats on our 2017 Clubman S with non-flat Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires. Huge difference... quiet cabin, better ride, tracks straight as an arrow. If we get a flat, we can call our service repair association to provide assistance. Or in our case, I replaced the two curb-rashed front wheels with new ones, retained the oldies and will use those as emergency spares in case the wife gets stuck on the road. :)

Yokohama's are the best 'budget' ones I believe.

Been running my Clubby on Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 225/35 R19 Y since July 2018 and find them to be great (much less crashy then the OEM RF). So far had about 13,000 miles out of them and they still have enough tread to get through an MOT with no advisory

Use Black Circle to find out the best prices for the various available tyres.
I've used Pilot 4's on a number of vehicles, they really are quite stunning, well worth the extra.
As mentioned before it's the single best upgrade you can make.
