Dramas!

I found out today that my new Mini (Status 1200 earlier this week) & due to be built next week, has inexplicably slipped back to status 1100.

I'm really not happy about this.

I did some searching online and found a pre registered Mini, with similar spec (different colour, no VDC, but with additional Panoramic Sunroof & Comfort Access), so I sent the ad to my dealer and threatened to pull out of the deal and buy that one.

Cue a major panic by my sales rep and a call to her Manager, who has now emailed Munich to demand an explanation and try to get the build date returned to next week.

I'm expecting a (satisfactory) reply tomorrow!

Not happy!

Kind of debating a colour change now......white silver is really nice. Volcanic Orange has really grown on me and thunder grey was my original first choice......

Sorry to hear that Andy - I can't really say anything else I know exactly how you are feeling - but if that were to happen to me again I don't think I could take it...

Goody luck
What on earth is happening with yours anyway?

Sorry to hear of your dramas andyross37, I still haven't heard anymore about my car either. I asked dealer to clarify what stage my car was at ie 1100 or 1200 and he just ignored my email

After hearing your bad news I am going to get in touch again I think and see what's what.
That's typical! My dealer doesn't respond to emails asking for the status either.

I have to phone her and ask her to check.

Been told mine has gone back to status 1200 this morning.....but that was from another source and not from my dealer........still waiting to hear from them!

Have you thought any more about the other MINI you saw with the better spec or are you going to hold out on your order?
I sent an enquiry yesterday about the better spec one, left all my contact details, home, mobile, email etc. No one has got back to me.......so I think I'll stick with the original order.

They did push it through for me after all.....and I appreciate that.

Should have changed the colour & added a sunroof when it slipped back to 1100......oh well never mind.

Summer will be over in 2 weeks anyway!

Just spoken to my dealer and mine has been put back now. Was due for build week 28 (next week?), for week 30 delivery. Now saying week 34 (not sure if this is build or delivery), no explaination as to why or what's going on! Ordered 2nd week of April, so that'll be 4 months, asuming no further delays.
Do what I did.

Find a used one of similar spec.

Email details to the dealer and threaten to pull out of the deal. Let them know you're aware the Manager can phone sales and have the date bought forward and let them think you're going to walk away from the deal.

They'll soon pull their fingers out!
Yes Houston I can confirm that

:nerd:
On a serious note.....I think you were planted here by Mini UK, to make us laugh and forget about our looooooooooonnnnnnggggggg waiting times.

I sort of works, but doesn't >:D

No chance - how would that explain me waiting for so long!!!

(Honest)

:nerd:
Point taken.

;)
The trouble is that I have no intention of cancelling and if they call my bluff I'll either be car-less or look like a dick when I back track.

I also feel a little for the dealer as there is little they can do about it. Ultimately it is MINI UK/BMW who are at fault and they should be taking a more proactive approach to rectifying the problems quicker and communicating with customers either directly or through the dealers to keep us informed of what is happening and offer compensation/goodwill gestures where appropriate.

The only thing that I can really criticise the dealer for is not fighting my case harder with MINI UK.

It's crazy that on Monday when I spoke to the dealer it was still showing build week as next week and today it gets put back 4 weeks. How can it get to this late stage before MINI UK inform anyone of a delay. Surely they knew this was going to happen weeks ago!
That's really not good enough.

You need to speak to the dealerships Manager. He can push it through with Mini UK.

That's what I did on the advice of a friend of mine who works in a Mini dealership and it worked for me

Yeah thanks Andy, couldn't hurt to have some inside help!
What spec have you gone for?

Just talking to him now
