Hi everyone,

I recently bought a 66 Mini Cooper with 36k miles and when either starting the car or using the start/stop function, the engine sounds a little rough with a shudder. Unfortunately, I bought it from BCA so can't ask the dealer to look into the issue.

In my mind, the shake/shudder is stronger on the left-hand side of the engine so my thoughts it is either an engine mount or the starter motor may be is starting to pack in.

Any thoughts or wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like the engine mount. Mine did the same. I changed the engine mount and now it no longer shudders on start up.

Yeh that was my thought. Will take it to a mechanic to have it checked and replace the mount.
Purchase a power flex replacement bush. The original mount will last around 20k miles. They are not up to much I’m afraid. You can replace the mount yourself. It’s a very easy job.
