I just recently put an Armytrix Exhaust system on with a de catted downpipe. I am getting a check engine light because of the downpipe. Is it necessary to put a tune on the car? If I don't put a tune on it will the car experience problems?

Normally you need something that can delete the CEL when you remove the CAT.

I did read that it's possible to have some sort of spacer on the sensor which fools the system not to give the CEL but I don't know much more than that.

Some piggy back tuning boxes like the JB4 can delete the CEL

If the CEL light is deleted with the decat would it still be an MOT failure?

MOT will fail as without CAT it will not meet emissions...

The way round it is you know some dodgy MOT'ers who will turn a blind eye or to remove and re-install the De-CAT for the MOT

There is an option for a Sports CAT which should still pass MOT and much less restrictive than an OEM CAT but less effective than a De-CAT
