Hey Guys
Cooper S coming next week, can't justify the money for the jcw pro exhaust at the minute but theres a standard JCW exhaust not far from me on eBay for a decent price.

Will there be much difference between the standard S exhaust and the JCW exhaust?
is it a straight swap or is there any fittings need modifiying?

just want it to sound a bit more sporty all the time really.

will anything need coding to the car like the jcw pro exhaust does or is the standard jcw exhaust a straight bolt on?

thanks in advance

I didn't really think it was that much better sound ding when I drove both, a little deeper maybe, hardly louder. Unless your getting it for like 300 bucks I wouldn't. For sub 600 dollar spend I would do a borla axle back, it sounding quite good for the cost and the only other quality one I saw was super sprint anywhere near that Price....there is also a company called VIP in California that seem to know what they are doing and make a relatively inexpensive unit, but Borla is probably best bang for buck in regards to producing a nice tone on a budget...of course IMO..

thanks for the replies guys, the exhaust itself is £200, which is roughly $240, think i can get it a bit cheaper too so might just get it anyway.
is it a straight swap over? no modifications needed and it doesn't need plugging into the computer for any reason?
thanks

The JCW and S share downpipe/cat and turbo so it should go straight on, check out realoem and check the part numbers but I'm pretty confident it's correct.

I have done this modification to my 2016 Cooper S. There is a slight noise difference, however I expected more and was a little disapointed. I'm going to get the resonator removed and replaced with a straight pipe to release a bit more noise. £200 sounds expensive though, I got an exhaust from a brand new car for £100 (via eBay).

It is hard to get a full idea of the exhaust sound while the car is revving in neutral and indeed the sound in this case is rather unimpressive.
Sure thing, the JCW stock exhaust is not the most loud out there, but it is still loud and with a lot of pops and crackles when downshifting at high revs at Sport mode.
For more intense sounds I believe the obvious option is a 'Valvetronic' type of cat-back exhaust as offered by Remus, Armytrix, Mini, and perhaps others. To be honest this is one of my upgrade projects at the very near future.
