This should be a successful recipe to test the cornering lights:

- at night, put the light switch in "auto mode", fog lights off
- remove the handbrake
- put the car in first first gear and keep it clutched
- turn the steering wheel right, you will see the right side illuminate
- bring back the steering in the middle, the right side light shuts off
- (same thing happens of the left side if your turn to the left)
- you can repeat and enjoy as often you want :)

I also noticed that they turn on automatically when you put the turn signals.

Thanks Patch, that worked a treat. I didn't need to put the car in gear either.

The LED headlights are fantastic. They throw the light far: to the point that other drivers have flashed me because they think they’re on full beam, but I don’t think they’re necessarily blinding to others. Under the bonnet/hood the LED headlights also have their own heat sinks and cooling fans!
If you drive at 70mph for 10 seconds or more, or drive at 86mph or faster then they automatically throw the light further (I have the adaptive/cornering lights version).

I'm selecting the LED with cornering light option on my CooperD but the sales guys tell me their cornering only and not adaptive? (I.e they don't pitch the light differently at different speeds). I'd ideally like that system that you've described above though as I'll do a lot of night driving.

Was it just the LED with cornering feature that you spec'd?

Interesting, I have Mini F56 overnight for test drive, because I am thinking of buying one.
This has same problem, it is blinding other drivers really badly. And also, I cannot see the road properly because lights point to sky. Full Beam brights up the top of the trees.

Could this be a feature and not a problem just with this car?

Nice car. I learned to appriciate the color. The more I see it, the more I start to like it.

But one remark, dude they built your steering wheel on the wrong side!! :D

Regarding the led headlights, I recognize some remarkd. I had people flashing me in the dark as well like they had the idea I was on full beam. Must admit, first time we were crossing a new Mini in the dark with led's my wife said the same thing. I was going like "wow, cool headlights" :)
