Any of you gone with the One or One D options?


MINI ONE:

1.2L Turbo three cylinder.
variable valve and cam control
102 hp between 4250 and 6000 RPM
132 lb-ft (180 Nm) of torque between 1400 and 4000 rpm
0-100 kmh (60 mph) in 9.9 seconds (MT), 10.2 seconds (AT)
4.6L/100 km (51 MPG)
Top Speed of 196 kmh

MINI ONE D:

1.5L Turbo diesel
variable turbine geometry
95 hp @ 4000 RPM
162 lb-ft (220 Nm) at 1496 RPM
0-100 kmh (60 mph) 11 seconds (MT only)
3.4L/100 km (69 mpg)
Top speed of 190 kmh

Since my only need for this is commuting and some long road trips, the diesel will be it. I could care less for the more power the 1.2 offers.

I prefer the extra torque as well. plus max torque comes in at 1496 RPM, while the petrol gradually works up to it somewhere below 4000

diesels aren't known for top end performance, if you see a HP and Torque chart you'll see where it drops

yea, acceleration tests are done a WOT, the diesels drop off much earlier in the rev band than petrol.

ah that makes sense. they seem to be a hoot to drive though

the low rpm torque really hauls.
oh yea, and especially around town the low down grunt would be way more beneficial. you'd actually save a lot of fuel just by walking out of the hole, the diesel will want to walk much easier than the petrol which will demand a higher RPM...
