I received the harnesses today. See pics below, I just installed them and everything seems to be working like before. The real test will be on my drive home from work to see if the error message is gone. One thing to note there are 6 wires total running in the harness and there seems to be what feel like some sort of resistor or board in the middle. Fingers crossed, I feel good that this will solve the problem.

Where did you get the harness? Hoping it works out for you!

I originally ordered the taillights from VLand through Ebay. I messaged them about the error and the person who was responding said they had a fix for the problem and would send them. I paid to expedite the shipping from China and they came pretty quick. Leaving the office shortly and will report back.

Ah awesome. I got mine from VLAND on eBay as well (though it was quite a few months ago).

if they work for you I’ll reach out to them myself as well.

Glad you finally received them! Very interesting...Keep us posted on the results after some drive time!

So these just fix a taillight error code? I wonder if they fix the issue with the turn signal too.

Any updates on the errors after installing adapters?

So adapters really made no difference; maybe slightly less errors popping up but they aren’t gone completely. I just dove into the coding, what is causing the error to pop up is changing the setting i listed below. Once I change this, the horizontal orange light stops shining when the brake pedal is pressed but is causing the error. I am not sure why, but it seems like it is only happening on harder deceleration via the brake pedal or regen braking. Light braking functions properly without any error; anything let’s say below 30-40mph. When the error comes up what’s happening is the turn signal flashes and the error is displayed.

If anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate input.

Coding that is causing the error to come up:

Body Domain Controller -> 3064 LceLampMapping3 -> MAPPING_BREMSL_1_L_OUTPUT -> OFF
  • Needs done on both sides, use MAPPING_BREMSL_1_R_OUTPUT for right side

Did you try the Brake Force Display setting changes? I think these are the only ones.

Is BFD aktiv? Or nicht_aktiv? Just spitballing here.

Let’s try setting BFD_R_KALTUEBERWACHUNG and BFD_R_WARMUEBERWACHUNG to Nicht_aktiv and BFD_R_IS_LED to Aktiv (and repeat all three on the Left side).

So I just tried this also. My stock settings were already set to:
BFD_R_KALTUEBERWACHUNG and BFD_R_WARMUEBERWACHUNG to Nicht_aktiv

I only had to change BFD_R_IS_LED to Aktiv

this didn’t solve the problem, I even tried switching the first two to Aktiv but no luck. I will try again maybe this time coding one at a time. Not sure if that really makes a difference.

For now I guess my brake light will consist of the vertical bar and the orange turn signal until I can get it sorted out.

Oh. I think that’s the only way it works; on the EU-style lights the flags are only the “Nordic” DRLs (or tail lamps controlled by the switch/Auto), while the brakes are just the vertical elements. Can someone in the UK or EU correct me if I’m mistaken? Or am I misunderstanding, do you mean your brake lights are still a combination of the vertical red and horizontal amber for now?

Correct, in order the stop the error message from popping up, I basically left the stock coding so now the brake pedal essentially illuminates the turn signal and the vertical bar.
the coding that was causing the issue is what separated them:

Body Domain Controller -> 3064 LceLampMapping3 -> MAPPING_BREMSL_1_L_OUTPUT -> OFF
  • Needs done on both sides, use MAPPING_BREMSL_1_R_OUTPUT for right side
by not coding this, the errors are gone but the vertical and horizontal both light up when I brake now.

Sorry I've been mia for a few days here...Really bummed to hear the harness adapters didn't resolve it.

It doesn't seem like you would need to mess with any coding regarding making sure lights are LED as they are that way from the factory.

So what happens when you just swap the pins in your harness? Does it make the horizontal section flash as your turn signal? Does it pulse when you step on the brake?

When you do the 3064 coding (step 2) does it make the brake pulse stop?

By doing step 2, but not separating the signals with the 3065 coding (step 3) it still lights up the amber horizontal part when you brake?

So here is what I concluded so far, the 3064 coding is causing the error but separates out the turn signal from the brake light. If you leave the coding as factory for 3064 what essentially happens is when you brake the orange turn signal and the red brake light both illuminate. No pulsing or anything just solid. This is basically like the oem lights just with orange.

The 3065 coding allows the turn signal to function properly on its own separate from the brake light.

Returning the harness pins back to stock reverts everything. I am going to try and start from scratch again and see if there is anything I can do to get it to work. But basically I am hoping someone can chime in about the 3064 coding or if there is another alternative to separate out the blinker and the brake light.

Very interesting that the horizontal section illuminates as your brake light and doesn't pulse it like it did on mine.

Here's something to try, remove wire 6 (pin location 1) which is the unpopulated one on my harness. Try it with no coding as a baseline, then if it still all functions the same as factory (or may even illuminate the UJ section with your brake like it does on mine) proceed to do the coding along with that pin/wire still removed. Thoughts?

I will give that a try; one thing about the brake lights not pulsing could be from the harness adapters from V Land. I will try what you said and am planning to dive in again this weekend. Hopefully I can find the solution. I appreciate the feedback and suggestions.
