Do you know that when purchasing your new Mini that you can get 7 days FREE comprehensive car insurance through BMW Mini.:)

I've just contacted Mini on 0844 854 1786 to get a quote for the MC that I'm taking delivery of on the 1st September. They asked if I wanted the 7 day free comprehensive policy, obviously I said yes. :D
They wanted a 5 digit security number from my dealer which I didn't have but providing them with the dealers name, address and salesman's name allowed them to get a number.
I then obtained a quote for annual insurance, not as cheap as can be found on the usual internet sites but not far off target.:|
5 minutes later I received an email with the Insurance Certificate a copy of which my dealer also receives.
This will allow me to more time get a better online quote as I'm having trouble due to not yet having a registered car as my private plate isn't yet recognised online.
No mention of this free insurance from the dealer so is it a well kept secret:confused:

Yep...I took advantage of it in order to get my MINI registered with my personal plates. Still had my own insurance in place when I collected it.

My dealer virtually insisted I have the 7 day insurance. Since mini insurance send the certificate to the dealer too it means they don't have to get proof from me that I'm insured, which I guess they need to tax the car. And since the car isn't registered yet it's awkward for other insurance companies to insure... they can't look it up in their system.

I found it was convenient all round and of course mini get to give you a quote as well. Now my regular insurance is up for renewal I'll get another quote from mini and see how they compare... the guaranteed mini parts for repairs might persuade me.

My dealer also insisted on this, using the same reasons as MintMark gave above. I just ended up double insured for that week. I didn't want any delays, only to have the dealer say 'well, if you had used our insurance, etc...'
It's good business for them: I will also get a quote from them come renewal time; having come from a bigger engined car I am saving anyway, so if it's slightly more, with guaranteed Mini parts, that could be the deal clincher
