Hi everyone,

I have a question that I'm hoping someone might be able to shed some light on...

I'm interested in a Cooper with the Essentials and Connected packages. But without the Onboard Computer, would I have the Minimalism tips that come with the Green Mode?

Hi,

I didn't think you could get the Cooper without the onboard computer? When I check the Mini website it looks like it's standard spec without any packs/equipment added.
Hmm... That's interesting. I wonder if it's a country variant. On the mini.ca website (Canada), the Essentials package outlines heated seats, front and rear fog lamps, and panoramic sunroof.

The Loaded package expands on the Essentials with sport seats, automatic climate control, comfort access, auto-dimming mirror, and onboard computer.

My concern was the onboard computer seems to be the device deriving the fuel range and other factors that are fed into the Driving Excitement for Sport mode and Driving Instructions given in Green mode.

ahhh I see, sorry i was forgetting that they mess around with specs between markets. Although I genuinely don't get why they'd remove the onboard comp from standard spec. Surely that's an absolute default these days?

Looking at the website though it's really not clear about the onboard comp. I'd like to imagine that they'd include it, or at least the car would be able to tell you that info from having connected added. Sorry...probably not much help to you.. :(

Just to touch base on this thread again, I figured I'd update - though I'm no further ahead, really.

I checked my country's (Canada) Mini literature, but I couldn't find anything definitive. I've found that most car brochures, Mini and otherwise, assume a fully loaded model which makes it tough to determine what features you'll actually get with a certain combination of packages.

Maybe car manufacturers will develop a system in the future that will allow a user to input their package selection and construct a manual on the fly for their particular combination.

I called and asked my dealer a few days ago to get clarification. They said they'd call me back with an answer. That was four days ago :/
