Anybody else have this? Put your thumb on the door handle key hole cover and push lightly. Does the cover come off? Mine did so took the car back to the dealer. They say they've replaced the handle, but just tried again and the same thing happens. Can't see any difference in the handle or cover, so is this a design flaw? Be interested in your experiences.

I've come to the conclusion it's just an awful design. When it's held in place by that black plastic latch it should be locked in place - but it's just to easy to push it out. Wouldn't be surprised to see a change with future cars.

The one on ours is gone. Need to go back to dealer now to get a new one....was falling off easy so do not think it was stolen, just fell off on highway maybe. Lousy design. New one will have silicone addition to stick in place.

Mine fell off in my hand from day one. I told the dealer, and they replaced the entire handle. The cap on the new one doesnt fall off at all.

So; this is a defect, and they can and will fix it, you just have to get the handle replaced.

It happens due to the fact that the dealer has to remove it to open the car door when they receive it from Mini. Most just pull it off not realising how easy it is to damage the latch. Dealers will just replace it if you ask though as its very common.

Mine fell off last week, car is 2 years old tomorrow. One phone call to Sytners at Slough, car was booked in no problem and the handle was replaced today. The design was changed at the end of 2014 because of the problem.
if you look at your service w/o, did they put a PuMA number for this as being corrective action for the redesign for better fit of this part ? If there is a PuMA Number, can you provide it ? Thank you kindly

There is no PuMA case for this as a service bulletin supercedes it. If you have a 2014 F56 (and I believe some of the early 2015s), MINI will replace the door handle if you have this issue. They redesigned the door handle to fix it going forward.

SI M51 04 14 is the bulletin number
