Has anyone found a Car Bra for their F56?

7077 Views 16 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  caveman dave
I've been looking for an old-school vinyl car bra for my F56 to mount for road trips to avoid stone chips on the front end. Has anyone found one that fits an F56 with JCW exterior package? Any pics? I've seen the Colgan product on various sites, but none shows it mounted on a JCW F56 front end.

PS: I'm not looking for a clear bra...I have these on my other cars and they tend to get scuffed up over time. I'd like to go bra-less in the city and put on an old school bra for the occasional highway miles.

Thanks

Nice idea, especially for the cold season. I'm gonna look into this and see what I can find in Germany.
Thanks I just ordered the Colgan bra

Which one the original? and what color?
I may be ordering one myself winter is brutal in Maine, I have been riding my Ural Gear_up motorcycle year round for the last 4 years, but she is now being stripped and repainted.
The only one wearing a bra in our house is my wife.

I can imagine you need an accessorie like this if you drive on a lot of crappy roads but ober here in Europe the car bra's are not very common.

I ordered the original 2 piece Sku#BC5399CF.

I intend to use it for road trips, not daily driving in the city. High speed pebble and insect impacts scuff up cars' front end paint here. I have clear bras on our other cars and have found that it's not enough to protect the front end paint at highway speeds.

The weather and roads here in Maine is a lot like Siberia, except with more road salt and sand

I remember the older car bra's scratching the paint under it really bad after prolonged use. Wonder if there is a fix for that through the long winters, I know the winter's in Maine as I used to live in Nova Scotia. Here in Southern Ontario can be nasty too.

I remember dirt getting under the edges of the old bras too. I have this concern as well. More investigation is needed here.

I understand. Unfortunately we all live in different climates and encounter different road conditions. To be honest, even in Belgium we have a lot of loose stones and potholes after the winter period. I cross the border every day because I work in the Netherlands and boy what a difference. Dutch road conditions are perfect. Thumbs up for that! :D

You have a strong point here as it has happened with me on another car in anotherLife. Even though with soft padding it is going to happen so I think it should go under maintenance! Meaning taking it off quite often and rising off the paint...

Oh! well... Still "to me" better than the clear.]

You are correct on the number as long as you have a front license plate. If no license plate it would be BC 53 98CF.

Just to make sure, you have the 2016 JCW 2 doors?

Thanks! Better I am sure than having to return it!

Did you get the bra? If so, are you happy with it. Tell you the truth I am waiting for your reply before ordering mine...

Thanks. I hope you don't mind me asking.
Apologies for the very very late response...have the bra and am happy with it! Never thought I would say that, but I guess I just did.
Any pics sjp? I remember how popular these were a few years back in the VW scene, but I've yet to see any on a MINI.
Be very careful when you fit them, if they are loose, even only slightly, it will move and dust/small particles trapped underneath will scratch your paint work horrendously.
