Last month I got an email that after 5 years it is time for a new company car.
My current Ford S-Max is going to retire :crying: time for a new puppy.
As my company has a restricted number of brands and only smaller models my choices are VW, BMW, Mini and Skoda. As most people at my work go for the BMW the parking lot looks like a BMW garage
I did a test drive in Golf: after 10 years of VW/Audi it was like coming home.
Everything was where it is supposed to be. So between you and me...a bit boring.
What struck me was that in the center console, on the high line version, there was a plate of piano black plastic. From handbreak up to the dash...Looking so cheap. mmmm.
Two days later I drove a Mini Cooper:
on my face. Had to get used to the smaller space, although the sunroof helped, and the smaller window and screen wipers, compare to space ship S-Max 0
. But handling of car was amazing. Navigation iphone integration etc was good and buttons and switches were where they are expected. What was amazing was the HUD. I can't remember what the speed dail looks like
, only using HUD. Really good. And people told me Mini is bouncing on the road, but after my ride I did not feel shaken nor stirred.
After that drive I drove the BMW 1. Nice car, but option wise they keep everything for the BMW 3, e.g ACC, HUD etc. The BMW seller told me: will you like the mini in four years time and... the ergonomics are not that great. Then I told him that in the new Mini everything is BMW and his argument was not correct.
So I have decided to order the new 5 door Mini Cooper D, Chili, wired, visibility and serious business package. Sunroof, ACC, HUD etc... lets say almost full option. This was the easy part.... choosing the right color is more difficult:
Here in NL the image of Mini is a ladies car. But looking at the sportiness of the car I wonder why >
. So for the color combi I choose black for the roof/mirrors and wheels. But still hesitating on BRG or Blazing Red
In the showroom there was a black Mini, but it was the Iced Chocolate. Really cool, but I need to see if the blackness/brownness outside in daylight. So that is the last, third dark horse, option.
Will let you know what it is to be, but any suggestions on what color is welcome 0
