Just joined and expecting to confirm my Cooper order on Tuesday after Easter.

Had a test drive on Friday - what a civilised car! Like some others here I will be moving on from a 1 series BMW, and appreciate the control layout of the new MINI - everything is where I expected.

This site is by far the most informative I've found.

Have firmed up my options now:

Cooper
Midnight Black + White roof & mirror caps & stripes
Glowing Red interior surfaces
Black 16" Victory wheels
Chili
Media XL
Driving Assist
Parking Assist
LED Headlights
HUD
Variable dampers
Folding mirrors
Heated frontscreen
Kitchen sink, etc.

Most difficult choice was colour. I had mulled all sorts of colours, but seeing that combo in the metal was very persuasive. As was wife.

Parking Assist was the biggest luxury, but I was persuaded by my dear wife's inability to park in a space smaller than a small house, and I thought we'd probably recoup the cost in fuel saved not having to drive past viable parking spaces. (Not really).

Just a joy really. Traffic was heavy around the dealer's, but that was useful to see how well low speeds could be managed, and also demonstrated how well potholes were handled. Really, really, well I thought. The suspension is pretty impressive. Eventually got to a known B-road route and was able to make a good comparison with my current car - a BMW 118d. I must admit that the Mini feels classier inside, and its technology is miles ahead. I really can't wait...except I have to, and I expect some many, many weeks.
