Hi all,

Bit of an SOS from me this eve...I've had a warning from the car regarding the battery (picture below), saying its using too mush power when stationary. Took the car for a 40 min drive with stop-start and air conditioning off etc. When I got home and turned it off it said the battery was very low and I should take the car for a drive. Repeated the process but I've just got the same warning.

Has anyone else had this? Any advice?

Jon

- Make sure you're turning off the electronics when you leave the car, either by hitting the Start/Stop switch a second time or by locking the doors.

- What are your drives like? Quick <15 min typical drives?

- Are you using accessories while the engine isn't running?

- You may just want to take it to the dealer to test the battery

I had a similar error within a couple of days of getting my car.
Got really worried the following morning wondering if it would get me to work, but it did ok.
Contacted the dealer who said just to take it for a good run and I have never had the error message since.
I put it down to the fact that the car was at the dealers for 3 weeks or so until I picked it up, plus the fact that I was playing with all the gadgets such as watching movies etc whilst the engine was not running!
Advice from the dealer was stop fiddling and drive it:D

Thanks for the replies!

Most of my journeys are indeed sub-15 min, and I don't sit in my car just using stuff, BUT I live in central London so its often on the stop-start...so maybe in that respect yes.

Really hope it starts in the morning :(

Hi I have the same on my NEW car. I Have only 4 months my MINI....

As I can see its regular problem if you probably use more climatronic in sunny weather. I got this problem in the sunny day if clima works for maximum.
I recharge baterry with BMW charger with AGM option and problem is still. Tomorow I will get now baterry in BMW service. But I think It will not this problem in Battery.

The battery in the new MINI models drains very quickly. Start-stop wouldn't work if the battery was low, so that's not an option. Have you measured the current on the battery, when the engine is running and when it's off?
Do you have an error while the engine is running?

Keep an eye on it, when it keeps on coming back you should go to the dealer. Could be a software thing if hardware is ruled out..
