Hi Folks.

I have a question for you all.....When you order your MINI and specify the bonnet stripes as an option are they fitted by the factory or done at the dealership.

The reason I am asking is that we're due to take delivery of our Cooper D in VO,black roof and black alloys and stripes on this Thursday and they have one outside that looks like it could be ours apart from the bonnet stripes as this did not have them fitted nor did it have the chrome exterior pack like we ordered please please tell me that the factory fit the stripes as the spec from what I could see is like ours minus the chrome and the stripes.:(

As this looks like it could be a another dealer error.

Thanks in advance for responding.:)

I ordered bonnet stripes with my mcs. They were factory fitted. I later changed my mind but was advised by my dealer to go ahead with them and that if I still didn't like them when the car arrived they would remove them and refund me the cost. This was to avoid changing my order and extending the build time.

The stripes were removed on arrival at the dealership, very clean job. They told me they do this all the time.

put your chassis into the VIN decoder see if they are on there.

I had stripes and yes having been to the factory can confirm they are fiitted there as long as the dealer doesn't mess your order up. If they do they all seem to have a stripe man. They often fit their own which are very good copies and are usually cheaper than mini originals. For egs my wife bought a black roadsters s. She wanted red jcw stripes and the sticker man did them for£60 and you really can't tell the difference. Don't worry if the dealer is doing them it will be great whatever!

My stripes aren't listed on the options on this website, although they are listed on the documents the dealer prepared, so I feel confident the dealer didn't err. Could there be cases where the plant intentionally leaves it to the dealer to install the stripes? Hmmm... now I'm left hanging wondering if my car will arrive with or without stripes.

I was told at the time that I ordered that the stripes would be put on at the dealership. I wonder if the difference has to do with where you are. Maybe the distance it has to travel? I know when I heard that they just stick them on I did worry a little about how durable they would be, but I love the look.

Wheee! when I was shopping it came to my attention that stripes weren't painted on but vinyl stick-ons. I also noticed some old MINIs with lots of cracking (or is it crazing?) on the stripes, so I was hesitant too until I was assured it would be a long time, if ever, that this would happen, and then new ones could be installed. Obviously, being garage-kept and out of the sun diminishes this problem too. My salesman and on-line posters have also confirmed that MINI doesn't paint them on at the factory because it's too expensive. Still think it would be better though, in looks and durability.

My "expected delivery date" is Oct. 9. We'll see.

Excellent result!

I suppose if you have the VIN you could check with the suspect vehicle on the forecourt - the VIN is visible at the bottom of the windscreen :)

In terms of sticker longevity it says in the handbook when you polish the car DONT polish the stickers else they fade. We had a mini Highgate cabrio for two years and no vis sign of any degradation so I really don't think you need worry. Likewise mini originals are 80 and most sticker guys will redo them for £60. At least in Lincoln. And they look identical to me!
