A good friend has just taken delivery of a F55 One.

She is not as tall as some and when the tall gate is open she can't reach it to close! Het old R50 was no problem, she has been back to the dealer to ask them to approach MINI for a solution or to try and come up with one as she can't be the only person in the world with this problem!

Secondly, all her paperwork and dealers quotes say the tax is free in year one then £20pa, when in fact checking with the DVLA it will be £30pa, but again the dealer just said "it is what it is" surely this is misrepresention! Minor thing but still wrong!

Anyone else come across this?

With reference to the latter. All manufacturers have the disclaimer that local tax levels are not their responsibility and should be checked and confirmed by the customer. It was correct at some point and the government (bless em) put it up.
The UK doesn't actually have a "misrepresentation" law as such, we have the sale of goods act (which has been substantially reinforced by the EU btw.. bit of politics ladies and gentlemen) but this would be unlikely to help. For a tenner, it's not worth it...

As for the former.. tie a bit of rope/strap to it?

The £10 isn't a issue its the principle that they had it wrong and didn't really give a toss....

Or more like, we have your money now so not interested in helping!

Various solutions to the tailgate already thought about, maybe different struts to stop it going as high, just wondered if anyone else had come across this?

Oh dear, the only solution I can see is possibly putting a grab loop on the inside of the tailgate so that she's able to reach and grab that.

How about some sort of check strap that goes from one end of the strut to the other to limits extension?
