Help on taking my jcw on track

Hi guys, I’m looking to take my car on track so I need a bit of help on what I should potentially do/get looked at. It’s a 2015 auto JCW. Is it safe to take on track? Would the gearbox be okay if I did a stage 1 remap? Things like that would be greatly appreciated. Tia

Don’t know about the gearbox but you should probably not do a remap until you’ve had a few track days under your belt. Learning is a lot easier and safer at lower power levels. The first thing to look at is brakes, fresh pads, new hi temp brake fluid (I use Motul RBF 600). Then tires, are yours in good shape? I’d recommend a fresh oil change and coolant check. Do you have a helmet? Most tracks require one with the latest certification. Tires and brakes take a beating at track days, I change my brake pads every second track day.
So I’ve already done a track day in an m2 clubsport so going round is no problem. Weve just bought a r56 cooper s so my only issue was just not breaking the f56. But thanks any ways for the info, appreciate it.

Maybe you are already aware of this but the advice I received and I pass on is to show up at the track with fresh oil in the engine.

I'd also like to have the transmission/diff fluid fresh too.

And the engine air filter good.

The brakes should be recently flushed and bled.

Plus the tires should have good amount of rubber and not be showing any signs of alignment issues.

I would not make any changes rather just take the car to the track and experience it stock and experience it enough to know if it needs something else. An argument could be made that just leaving the car stock and instead putting the money you would spend on mods towards track oriented servicing/maintenance would be the better use of money.
Thanks, ill probably keep the car stock and just use the money for maintenance like you’ve said.
