So, yesterday I get a call from the manager of my dealer to inform me that he's been in touch with MINI UK about the delays with my car and that without doubt the problem is the contrast roof. I find this really hard to believe due to the number of F56's I have seen on this and other forums with a contrast roof.

In order to have some ammunition to fight my case I would like the help of those who have taken delivery of their F56 with a contrast roof. For those who are happy to help can you let me know the date you ordered your car and the date you received it, also the model and the body/roof colour combo.

Thanks in advance,

Nick

I am not sure this has any bearing on your problem. Different dealers seems to have more or less clout in the pecking order when it comes to new car allocations. Yes, there have been problems with roof painting and diesel engines, but dealer allocations also play their part.
But for what it's worth, I have a pepper white petrol cooper with black roof, ordered on the 21st March, received 2nd July.

Nick, my order was placed 14th March and my car was delivered 26th June.... Deep Blue with White.

The delay on my car was due to the diesel engine...

I went on the factory tour in early June and no mention was made of contrast-painting delays... they were just happy that the engine issues were over.

What is the problem with contrast-painting? Has anyone got a full explanation? It's not like they just started to do it...

Good luck with getting your car as you want it... for me, a contrast roof is a key part of the MINI Cooper's identity.

The problem that was reported a while ago was that the number of contrast roof cars was limited (not zero), so dealers were told that orders could be subject to delay once the limited contrast roof capacity was booked up. So it's no surprise that you've seen them - those were the limited ones.

Here's one

Their was no delay in the roofs

Their was just a factory closing in order to accommodate the problems specifically logistics when all the problems kicked off

Their is no contrast roof delay

I repeat their is no delay it's a polite way of saying that Mini screwed up D engine orders and they have to come back into the fold

That's all their is to it

Also confirmed by my mate that works at BMW

He also laughed that their was never a Harmon Kardon delay

Never

Work it out folks we've been done in - I will also point out what others have said on here and me myself a while back

All dealers have allocations - if they take your order that doesn't mean that goes in at that moment in time as defo - it means it's in a queue according to allocations for that dealership - example if the dealer has submitted monthly allocations for that month then it carries over etc etc

Thing is if you add the D problems then that one scenario just multiplied and got worse for the individual customer on wait

Folks this is it their is nothing more to it

I hear you G7, and that's why I'm trying to gather this info. I ordered 17th April and after further delays now looking at 18th August for collection.

I'm just fed up with all the bull s**t excuses. It won't get my car built any quicker, but the getting the truth out of someone would at least be a little satisfying! To be told it's just the roof knowing this to be false is really winding me up. I want to see how they try to explain why others who ordered after me, with a contrast roof, have already taken delivery!

I get that each dealer has allocated slots, but the other day mine let slip that they've sold less than expected and my order was only a couple of weeks after launch, so I doubt that they filled their allocations at that point!

You will have to hang on - I cancelled my order as many on here know after 2 months with Berry Heathrow - the lack of information and respect was absolutely staggeringly terrible at the end

I went to Bristol Dick Lovett - and told them that I didn't want the car in August for which they could have got it in I wanted the 64 plate taking into consideration I'd get some extra value on the new plate - they agreed - for the sake of few weeks I took it

The running joke I'm on a 5 month wait and no one has beaten me yet - you will come close - in fact I ordered first week of April before I cancelled it first week June and ordered again

I agree - I hate the lies - I've got to the truth but do not expect anyone especially a dealer, a sales manager or a dealer principle to let you in.

They won't - and I think it's bad for business - even if we have mostly all waited we'd be very happy to do so if the truth were told than be subjected to crap

Ordered a red/black Cooper 11 April, it arrived at the dealer today and I collect it tomorrow. I think it is 13 weeks to the day.

My car was initially quoted as deliver mid to late June.

Dealer never told me about a contrast roof delay, he did say that the factory was shut for two weeks for re-tooling or something.

If your car is not due till mid-August I would tell them to register it as a 64 plate and get in September.

You might also ask if they can swap a showroom car built for them to your car in order to get it sooner.

I tried this..... They can't. After weeks of battling to get my car all I would say in dealers defence is they are being kept completely in the dark by Mini UK. Dealers do seem to be providing us with the limited / completely fabricated information they are being fed from Mini UK customer services....they're struggling to get at the honest view of what's going on.

If there really was a roof contrast colour issue then offering to have a body coloured roof early in the order process should get round this right?.....mysteriously it didn't...

Ordered 31st March, delivered 28th June. 13 weeks. Petrol not a diesel.

Wasn't there an issue with Black paint at some stage? I was told when I ordered that it would take an extra month if if I went with a contrasting roof. I got told October delivery. That was fine by me.
As you all may know I ordered in June, got build week 27, and the car was on the boat to Oz on July 4.
I went for Deep Blue with Black roof

:D The funny thing is that if we are to take up all these lies we come to the conclusion that MINI could not manufacture a single car ... color of the roof, harman kardon ... to me told me I had to order the liner in anthracite or not was another month of waiting ... what matters is that I was going to order anyway as I G7 friend says all lies! Cause? Simple....problems in cooper D
 and i ordered a Cooper D

That's annoying for me because what they said influenced my option choices... now instead of just delaying some cars it looks like their excuses might leave some people with compromises they regret. I guess mini thought it would deflect some blame :crying:

I think I still would have made the same choice, but I did feel restricted and I shouldn't have been.

I Ordered my MC in VO with Black roof in the 7th April and am picking it up on Sunday (13th July). Original delivery date was quoted as mid-late June so I think I only got pushed back 2 weeks in reality.

I was only ever told that there were delays, but this was attributed to the factory closing at one point and/or a new paint shop being added.

I was never told that there were specific option or roof issues.

I was also told at one point that of the two production lines (A and B), it very much depended in which your car was allocated to. With one line processing much faster. I don't know enough about how the manufacturing process at the factory works to know if that's true.
