Hi - just got a 2014 petrol mini Cooper in Moonwalk grey.
Had a Ford Escort then a Renault Megane previously.
it's been back to the dealer after a week of ownership for the common issue on the forum of boot water leak in rear tyre well. They replaced the boot seal and it's been fine. It has idle issues if the engine is restarted after cooling for about an hour.
Despite the issues I've had with the car, I luv it. Luv the styling, performance and handling. There's nothing I would change about the car (apart from idling issues!) and maybe better fuel economy after owning diesels (thinking about it no, would lose the performance!).
It's my first ever mini or BMW and I wouldn't have even considered one of it hadn't have been for a test ride.

Thanks for the welcomes, wish I'd considered a mini years ago!
🙂
Will post on the forum about the idle problem, got a few ideas.
Thanks

I too have idle issues, at least according to the missus 😂 . I’d be interested to hear what the eventual diagnosis is - assume it occurs when stop/start is disabled?

Thanks for the replies. Idle issues from the misses :giggle:
Will be looking into the car idle issues, in summary- from when I bought the car -
If stop/start disabled and you start the car from either hot or cold it starts and idles fine. Read on the depths of the forum the ignition is retarted until the cat warms up. That's why they sound "lumpy" and it is a triple.
The issue is when it's been running to full temp and then restarted when partially cool after about an hour. If you don't hold the throttle to over 1,000 revs the car will stall. After about 30 seconds it will then idle ok.

Retarded not retarted - auto spell correct.

The spark plugs were changed by the dealer when I bought the car.
When I took the car back to them with the idle issue they couldn't find anything with the computer diagnostics.
I thought eliminate the easiest things first. Ran two tanks of fuel with redex to clean injectors and fuel lines. No improvement. Changed the air filter. No improvement. Planning to use fuel cleaning aerosol into intake, then check spark plugs rating and gaps and then check ignition coils.
If that doesn't work think it's a temperature related symptom from one of the sensors.
But can't find any detailed information on the fuel / ignition system.
I shall repost on fault forum if symptom persists or I resolve it. Not seen any other posts for idle issues on restarting not hot or cold.
