I've seen a couple of posts on fb from people take videos of a little mini appearing on the screen below their speedometer, and it does a little wink!! How and when does this happen? I haven't noticed my mini winking :-(

Hi there... I'm just back from picking up my new Cooper D (photos to follow!)

You'll be winked at when you set the side parking light feature!! Very cute MINI

The parking light feature is a system that has been around for many years.
It is simply a system that puts on one of the side lights front and rear for when you park in a position that may be poorly lit and thus it alerts people to your vehicles presence so they don't drive into it!
The indicator stalk is clicked to the right or left as if indicating and then the ignition shut down.
This then determines which side of the car the lights are illuminated.
Simple

Obviously the MINI has a little something extra that tells you when you have the system activated.
I can't wait to see it on my car for sure...!:D

Aha! I never use parking lights on any of my cars so would probably never have figured that out! Thanks :)

I see, thanks. Another quick question, wouldn't the lights left on drain your battery?
I imagine it would drain your battery if the battery were already very low, in some kind of disrepair or the weather was bad but it would have to be extenuating circumstances and you would have to have left the car unattended for several days.
The power drain on something like this is minimal and if you are using LED's then the power drain will virtually unnoticeable as LED's are notoriously low power loads thus don't strain the battery.

Don't forget, the cars of today are computer controlled and there will be a part of the car that is monitoring the drain. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some kind of cut out when the battery reached a certain point.
That is only speculation. I have no facts to back that up.

Regardless, you could happily leave the vehicle overnight with the parking light on and return in the morning and find everything absolutely ticket-boo.:nerd:

I thought this too about the fact you can set the fans to blow cold air on a timer while you're away from the car. I wonder how much battery that uses? I assume it wouldn't do it if it knew it would drain it?

If it's red it is in dark/night time mode if white it's daytime-according to the sensor anyway! Might not be in actual fact! As far as i can see anyway!

You have to watch the screen in front of the driver ie where the miles speed etc can be set to show. as soon as you start getting in or out.it's only a very quick event!!!mini appears then the headlight winks(frontal view).

You can't make it wink it just does. Unlock the car and watch the screen in front of the driver beneath the speedo. A picture head on of mini appears and thee headlight winks.same when you leave but blink and you miss it!
