How to copy from iPod to Disc?

I've managed to do everything my wife wants in the car. iPhone working perfectly over Bluetooth, home address set in Nav, folding doors mirrors when she locks the car BUT no way will it copy her music from iPod to the media hard disc. Connects via USB the car sees the device and is happy playing the tracks off the iPod but even following the instructions in the handbook to 'Import new tracks' absolutely nothing happens. Help it's making me look a right idiot. PS Great forum!
