Ok this is probably something that is covered in the manual but I've not come across it yet! Anyone help? ........

When it displays the MPH it's usually in white but a few times lately - during the day - it has reverted to amber in colour. Is this because the lights are on?

I think it happened yesterday when I had rain sensors on and when the rain fell the main lights came on and although not immediately I'm sure the mph display changed colour. Anyone else notice this and know the answer?!!

thanks.

I know what you mean... but surely you don't mean that having the speed there is a waste of space? The fullest my HUD gets is speed with a speed limit and then some sat nav instructions, which can be quite large at a motorway junction with lane guidance.

Even so, there is quite a border around the edge, but I think they have to leave this to allow you some head movement without losing the display. Sometimes I think it would be good if you adjust the size of the projection as well as the position.

The speed limit part of driver assist is OK... it shows you the limit and most of the time it's right. But it doesn't do anything... it might be nice if it warned you for exceeding the limit.

The collision avoidance part has lit up a couple of times... you can set how sensitive it is. Haven't tried the auto high beam yet.

Mark, I use the HUD to warn me of exceeding a limit, along with the joyful musical note from the speakers, which is configured in the central display. I can't remember under which heading though.
As you suggest it would be useful if the DA package could do it automatically.

The words "speed warning" and an exclamation mark appear on the HUD.

I found the car was getting to limits much quicker than my previous one and I have never seen so many mobile cameras as have been on my routes in the last few weeks.

If I could afford it I think I would go for the "driver assist" package too if there is a next time. It would fill up that huge switch gap on the left too!

So you don't have Driver Assist currently then? So how come you're getting the speed warnings? I don't have them, is it a setting on Nav I've not come across??

No, I don't have Driver Assist currently.

I had to wait for my wife the other day and to pass the time I worked my way through the various menus that come up on the central display screen.

One of the options that I came across (I can not recall which menu it was) was to set a speed warning, which I did at 30mph.

Now when I reach 30mph the musical tone plays once and the speedo display shows the warning, and so does the HUD.

That is how I am getting the speed warnings.

You have to set it to the speed you want to be warned at, and it is not linked to the NAV map in any way, so I doubt if it is what you are looking for.

I find it useful though just to keep me alert to the mobile camera threats that abound around here.

Aw yeah, I know what you mean now. I've never set it, don't see the point personally as I'm in and out of 60/30s a lot. Maybe I should set it for 70+ ...and test it out ....just to see if it works, you understand!!!!
Thanks for pointing that out though.

I thought I might find it annoying but it isn't actually.

A couple of weeks ago I merrily drove past two mobile speed camera vans and one police hand held camera trap, all in 30 zones which I am normally very careful about, and I am sure I must have been doing more than 33mph but I was not concentrating on speed so much as the roads were empty and I was just cruising along -until I saw them and tried to slow down quickly.
So far, no ominous envelopes have arrived, so maybe the cameras were off and the police were just doing a frightener but it sure focusses your attention on watching your speed-hence my speed warning setup.

Doesn't half ruin your day/week when that happens!

Ha, I usually find if you can see them, they're deterring you ...if the sneaky wee sods are hiding, that's when they're out to get ya!!!

*TOUCH WOOD* (more down to good luck than management) I've yet to have an 'ominous envelope'..... that's one bill I can do without!

O/T johnan .... are you on NMS? Going to the Safari meet? Think I am!

Just used our friend Mr Google, and now I know what you mean!

I do keep an eye on the NMS forum but hadn't noticed the info on the Safari park run, but I will be away from home that weekend, so could not go anyway unfortunately.

Do monkeys not pull wipers off and jump about on car roofs in these places, or is that just an old wives tale!!?

I was driving home last night, the same route I usually take and the "do not overtake" symbol flashed up on the HUD and then disappeared 10 seconds later. Will have to pay attention again tonight but it is accurate in that there's a small section of no overtaking. Can't believe I didn't noticed the warning before!

Thanks Johnan for pointing that option out. I've never set that up as it seemed a bit fiddly to have to go into the menus each time you wanted to change it.

But there is the limiter that's part of the cruise control system as well... that one actually prevents you exceeding the set speed.

Aren't we spoiled for choice? :)

Wow, can't believe there are so many options; I just cant wait for my VO to arrive 1st Sept-says he hopefully! I didn't spec driver assist but have satnav and the HUD.
Re the speed cameras, sometimes they can be reading your number plate to check for insurance or your tax disc I think; perhaps they were doing that! or as you say, just trying to make people think!
