Got the car on Dec 19. I have put about 130 miles on it, am driving according to Random Internet Yahoo Guidelines.

First impression? Absolutely freaking awesome. What a great car. Even though I am taking it easy during run-in, I can tell there are oodles of get-up-and-go in there. The Sport Suspension and Sport Mode combine to make the car a point-and-squirt joy to drive. I had it out in some twisties yesterday and this is by far the best handling car I have ever driven.

Volcanic Orange: I had some slight reservations, I'll admit. Liked the color on the internet, and the brief views of the color out in the wild were interesting. But now that I've actually been staring at it for 3 days, I am glad I got VO. It's a great color. The only problem is I will have to get used to being the brightest car in the parking lot, which may pose challenges regarding Parking Strategy. Count me in as another loud & proud member of Team Volcanic Orange.

LED Lights: Bright and bold. Love the daytime running lights (I generally hate DRL's and disabled them on my R56).

Base Radio: Nowhere near as sucky as I was afraid it would be. It plays podcasts off my iPod, and plays Spotify through my iPhone. Have not figured out if I can stream over Bluetooth on any of those, I'm guessing that would require that I had $elected $ome of tho$e option package$. But the sound quality is good enough for me, and getting at the various settings is intuitive and simple.

LED Ring: Pre-car, a gimmick. Now I am fascinated by it and putzing with every setting to see what effect it has. I love how when the auto-stop engages, the ring goes green for a second then fades out. Greatly relieved that I have full control over the brightness settings, independent of the instrument lighting.

Tachometer: Should be swapped out with the speedo. During the day, with sunglasses on, it is kind of dark and hard to see. I don't usually watch the tach, preferring to shift by sound and feel, but during break-in I know I need to keep it below 4500, so it's kind of annoying.

Rev Matching: My car, born 10/31/2014, does not rev match from third to second, which is just weird. But the other gears do, and it's seamless. The transmission is a pleasure to row. I am slowly getting used to the clutch.

Arm Rest: Useful, but kinda bulky. You can adjust it down atop the parking brake, which gives you more elbow room (something the IDrive folk have complained about in various posts), but when you pull up the brake lever, the armrest comes with it.

Auto Stop: Love it. Works flawlessly so far (no auto-stoppng on the motorway, knock on wood). Still discovering the behavioral quirks of the system, but so far I'm impressed.

Climate Control: Automatic CC seems to work great, maintaining a temp with little effort. AC does not seem to run when it's colder outside than in, which is awesome-- It just pumps the cooler air inside without running the compressor and sucking power away. Brilliant. We'll see how impressed I am come summertime when it's 2,389 C in the shade.

General quality: Orders of magnitude better than my R56. This is a very nice car. Great job by BMW.

I am very happy with the car. It is brilliant, and it is sooooooo good to be free of the various sucky vehicles I have been stuck with for the last 2 months and finally back in a MINI. Count me as one satisfied customer.

As you may have read, rev matching from 3rd to 2nd was removed from 2015 Cooper S models - something to do with the new B46 engine for 2015...

HOWEVER, as of March 2015, it will be put back into any new F56s and a software update will be available to bring it back to F56 owners that didn't have it before.

Congratulations uke! Glad to hear you love it so much. It's amazing how the pain of waiting for it just completely evaporates. I've had mine for two months now and am still totally infatuated with it. I'm still making little discoveries that thrill me. Happy and safe driving! Don't forget to take some time to post here though. You never fail to make me laugh. Can't wait to see some pictures!

I read about that. Definitely a WTF software thing going on there, but I'm happy that software will be altered to make it happen again. Thanks for the info!

Thanks, Wheee!

Will post some pics before much longer. I promise. And will continue to contribute. This forum is a great community and has kept me sane while waiting.

Nice review! I concur about being the brightest car in the parking lot. I came out of a store into a dark parking lot the other night and Hal was glowing against the other cars saying, "Here I am!". Just another advantage of being on the team.

I gave Hal his second washing today at a DIY. He seems even happier after a refreshing shower! We're already at 1500 mi. of living life large.

I know. It's almost radioactive.

The coolest thing was driving away from the dealership, I passed a couple of ladies walking on the side of the road and they gave us a lingering look. Of course it might be they were thinking "what kind of idjit buys a car that horrid color!" but I like to imagine they were admiring our volcano-ey orange-ey studliness, or something.

I am incredibly self conscious driving this car. Never felt that way before. It's interesting.

I think these cars attract notice no matter what colour they are. When I picked my car up, there was a couple at the dealership looking at cars. He was clearly there for a BMW but she just kept turning to stare at my car. I've often wondered what they came away with. Enjoy your car and drive it proudly. It is a great looking ride!

Yes. MINIs have that certain something, for sure. There is so much personality crammed into a small package. I don't think any other car is quite like that.

Congratulations, Uke! I concur on all points, though I have to say that although the armrest does feel rather in the way when I get into the car (an F55), I've grown to really like it once I'm on the road! I've just finished running my car in. It only took me a month to get to 2000km and I didn't find it hard to keep under 4000 rpm. Now I'm able to go above that, I'm finally getting to hear those pops and burbles everyone's been talking about!

I agree tandberg every time you see the colour especially next to boring cars you fall more in love with it if that's possible.

I rang them
Chatted with a guy and he checked with the factory and mines confirmed, whatever that means. But he said the delivery date to the dealership is the 6th of febuary,so all being well the 14th pick up should be on.
So 8 More pay days ;-) fingers crossed..........

Hang in there. Like @Wheee! said, once you have it the excruciating wait just evaporates, and you feel that the wait was worth every minute.

I do like the armrest, and am quickly getting used to it. The first day or two I played around with lowering it completely, and that certainly frees up some elbow room, but now I just leave it in the deployed position and it's great. I love how easy it is to open it up and get stuff compared to the gnarly armrest I had in the R56. It's bigger inside, too.
