Hey everybody. I recently purchased a 17 s 2door and am already having issues! I brought the car home with me on Sunday and everything was fine through Monday. Tuesday morning when trying to start the car I got a starter/ignition failure message on the display screen. I tried again to start the car a few times and this it finally turned on. Then later at night the same issue happened. This morning once again a starter/ignition issue and no matter how many times I tried it would not start. I called up the dealer and they told me they have never seen this before and to bring it into service!
There is a sensor on one of the battery terminals, it will throw a fault if a slight drop in voltage, it could be giving false readings causing the issue?
It says "call for roadside assistance." Mini will send out a flatbed tow truck
so that the vehicle will be towed to the nearest dealership for repair. All at n/c...under warranty.
weak battery. Mini fussy: yes as stated, sandpaper/rotary tool battery terminals (just one side ok) and maybe other grounds (use a multimeter to measure voltage dropn under 1500rpm+ load or even amps for slight weak wiring. Sounds implausible but cleaning alternator ground that already looked clean and 2 sides of battery terminals resolved my same issue.. dealers must love this that appears serious but is a minor easy fix.
