Hi, I have had my F54 JCW for close to a year now and for around half of that time I have had an intermittent squealing from the engine bay. Mini/BMW have only ever heard the noise once and have been unable to repeat the noise to diagnose it. I have searched forums high and wide but to avail. I am 99.9% certain it will require a serpentine belt and tensioner.

it is with BMW/mini now for 2 days, if they cant sort it out i'll just post on their facebook site to get some action

looks like BMW/MINI will change the belt tensioner, belt and hopefully the alternator. They haven't been able to replicate the noise but have accepted 2 videos as proof.

Hey - sorry to resurrect a dead thread, but did the new belt & tensioner sort out the problem?

Hey - about 6 month ago i got a similar issue with my f54 jcw. Essentially they replaced the belt, tensioner and pullie. Then the noise was still there, afterwards they replaced the water pump, and it's fixed. Cheers

I had replaced the water pump and got the squeal a bit when revving or stop the engine.
I believe when I put the aux belt On the tensioned (think still original) was disturbing and the spring noising slightly because the tensioner vibrating constantly when engine runs
