Hi all,

So I have 17in Track Spoke JCW wheels on my f56 S.

I purchased the brake upgrade kit, the dealer went to install it today and the wheels won't fit on the hub!!

Even though its on the configurator online it won't fit on the hub.

So I have 2 options, buy new cup wheels £2600 or fit spacers to my current JCW wheels? I can't spring for new wheels so will prob go for spacers at 15mm, anyone have any thoughts on that?

I am also talking to Mini Customer service because they told me and on their etc system it says my wheels will fit, so trying to see if o can do some sort of deal??

Thanks mate, yes it may seem there are 2 types of track spoke wheels, one for the JCW Accessory Kit and one spoke wheels that come with a JCW car. Doesn't make sense really!

There are indeed two separate Track spoke wheel part numbers; one for the Cooper and Cooper S, and one for the JCW with the factory Brembo's. The JCW-specific wheels have a significant convex bow to clear the big calipers.

Here are pictures I took of each wheel:

I think the dealer should at least cover the cost of your spacers and longer bolts
Seems fair in the circumstances

Is it just me that thinks this is pretty rubbish overall?... Why can't they design something that fits *frowns*

Sorry to hear you guys are having this issue. I'd love to upgrade brakes to but I don't have enough money... Definitely not if I need new wheels too

Let my know how you get on mate, I was almost about to do this and have the same wheels as you.
Will do mate, however I will go for 2 x the 501 JCW wheels for the front only, keep the rears. This way I only swap tires and the wheels look identical, they just have that little extra clearance for the brakes as suggested by Karl so we will be the only ones who will notice. Once I get them on I will take a PIC and pur it on this forum for you.Its about £500 for the 2 rims only...

I hope the dealer is giving you a contribution backed from mini, whats the point in having a retrofit JCW brake kit for our cars if the only wheels that will fit them are made explicitly for the JCW, and that already has the brakes in the first place! I would understand if it wasnt a retrofit offering direct from manufacturer.

Keep us updated.

Blimey have you seen the size of the jcw brakes. I think your dealer has been very dopey. I went to sopers to look at the jcw and the first thing the salesman said was look at those brakes. They've made the wheels bow out specially.

I don't quite see your point about why design brakes that won't fit std wheels though. The jcw Is supposed to be the ultimate tool track or road mini and therefore everything is that bit bigger better faster etc. They should just be aware of the facts, std wheels whatever size won't fit round them stoppers.

Jeremy, they offer the JCW brakes as a retrofit kit option for all non-jcw cars, if it wasn't a retrofit option e.g. you just asked them to supply you based on part number then I would understand having to find ways to make them fit, but since its an official retrofit option then it seems wrong that you have to change your wheels or fit spacers to fit them, especially if you specced your car from factory with the JCW Track wheels to find out there are actually 2 versions and the the one you need is not an option you can specify from factor order.

hope that makes sense.

Agree here, as you know I am in the process at the moment, you WILL need new wheels if you want the upgrade brake kit if you don't have the right jcw wheel. I have the JCW track spoke wheel 562 and that doesn't fit.
Today the mini dealer fit the brakes on one side with the JCW Track Spoke 501 wheel and that clears the calipers, however only by 1-3mm it is so close, so close. The senior mini techs will look at it on Monday to see if they thinks its safe. Helmet Yellow Personal protective equipment Material property Hard hat
