Jerking when shifting

Hi to everyone, i've got my f56 std cooper since november but i've got a small doubt. Ever since i got it i can't get to shift quickly from 1st to 2nd gear comfortably, either i have to release the clutch slowly (like 2-3 seconds) or the car will jerk a little bit, even if i give it a little gas when releasing. I can't get to make "automatic like" shifts only from 1st to 2nd, especially when im driving fast. Is this normal or should I get it checked?

I'm driving manual transmissions during my whole driving career wich is 22 years know. Every car and every manual transmission has it's own characteristics even when it concerns the same model or brand. It's just a matter of getting experience with your drivetrain and how to treat is for a smooth ride. I must admit that during my first rides I had some difficulties changing from 1st to 2nd gear without a little shock going through the transmission, especially when driving in sport mode but after a few rides you get to know your car's characteristics a bit better and you get the 'feeling' of the drivetrain's response on your pedal movements.

Only issue I have sometimes is a quick downshift from 5th to 4th gear. I really have to pull the stick in 4th because it feels like there's something that blocks a smooth transfer. This especially occurs after a cold start.
